In the Ear? Really???

Some nice rifles there djones, but I notice that you've got them all set up for shooting out of the truck, rather than haul your bulk around the fields. Heck, even I have to get out of the ATV to climb the stairs to the blind, so at least I get some exercise, and I've got 10 years on you.

Sure don't know what you younger generation are coming to!..................:D

Keep us posted on how things turn out and your field tests.

its not the years brother ratt, its the miles. now i let technology do the heavy lifting.

rain headed this way. well see

got a couple shots off before the heavy rain fell. the first shot was on the money, but the blackout ain't no 308!. hog took off and i fired another. guess i didn't lead enuf for the 130 grainer and hit him in the rump. i could see the hot spot on his ham as he spun around. when he stopped i put another ... in the ear hehe.

****, hate to admit it, but those are a couple of good hogs....Wait a minute, one of them has a hat on.....Guess that money you spent on the weight loss program was wasted, huh, djones.....Well, remember that "a waist is a terrible thing to mind"".............:D

Got a call from a friend of mine at the Ford Dealer and he told me to get my butt down there fast! The story I got is that there is a dealer that has a bunch, like 14, car dealerships throughout Arizona and he has a centralized site that receives all of the different cars, including several different brands, where he has them cleaned, detailed, brought up to speed and then sends them out to the lots. Apparently saves him a fortune in wages by not having duplicate personnel doing the same thing on each of the car lots.

Anyway, someone from the office, doing a tour of the receivables lot noticed that a truck they had seen before was still in the back of the lot. Checking, they didn't find any record of it being on the inventory sheets, so started a quiet investigation to find out why. Turns out one of the Managers had been using the truck for clandestine rendezvous with his girlfriend so no one (his wife) recognized his own vehicle. This had been going on for quite a while apparently. He ended up fired, divorced and maybe more, don't know.

Well, whatever they were doing, they weren't doing it in the truck, checked it with my UV flashlight and it's clean.

Anyway, the truck was a Ruby Red Metallic 2014 Ford XLT 150 with all the bells and whistles including the tow package I wanted and had 7,240 miles on it. Since it had never been sold, but had the 7000 plus miles, it had to be sold as a "Program" vehicle at a pretty good discount. Anyway, it wasn't the color I wanted, but the hand Lacquered, Camouflage paint job was going to cost too much anyway. I didn't really need the crew cab, but did want the extended cab, so it may be handy with the grand kids.

Now I just have to see about stocking it with hot and col.......Nope, no cold women in my truck.

Anyway, original sticker was $46,000 +/-. I paid $32,995 plus the State bent me over for another $3,000 sales tax and an additional $650.00, for title, license, etc. Because of the circumstances, Dealer prep was waived. Not the best deal I could have gotten if I had had my pistol with me, but I'm OK with it.

Well I know one thing for sure, you're going to see me coming!

Sweet ride! "We" bought a 2014 Suburban a while back so that "we" could drive it. Since it has the fancy car seat in it, I only get to drive it when we go somewhere. I've been given the 2006 Honda Civic. Other than being paid for and 40mpg on the highway, I can't stand the thing. I'm looking for a dead tree to park it under. It would be awful if he Civic got crushed if the tree blows over in a wind storm.....

scrmblr,
First thing I thought of when I saw it was Coy Franks old Red Hot Rod truck! Figured that if he has kept it going, even after running down 852 hogs, then they must last! Actually is close to what I sold when I retired, except the one I sold only had the extended cab and wasn't bright red.

Only 2 things I didn't get was the 4 wheel drive, which they won't install as an add-on, and the back up camera, which they will install if I want to sell the house to pay for it. The 2 wheel drive is fine for Arizona and Southern Texas, and will be staying out of Washington in the winter anyway.

Got a funny story to tell, later about my first "Date" after widowhood. Will tell it later tonight, have a lot to do this afternoon.

Major change of plans. Daughter-in-law's car just cr*pp*d out so am taking the Subaru Outback up on a trailer, and giving it to them. Leaving here next Monday, to Olympia, WA, then across the Cascades to Illinois, South to MO, then on down to Houston to do some fishing.

Niece just bought a $100,000 cabin cruiser and wants me to come down and help her launch it and do some fishing. Launch it???????? Anything that big should already be in the water. I think she just needs me to drive it since I'm Coast Guard Certified for a boat over 24' and she isn't. Better check to see if my Certification is still current. Don't remember if they expire or not.

Darn girl, if she wasn't blood related, would marry her........She's a real estate agent that only handles high dollar Estates and Ranches of 5 M and up...Got more money than sense. Of course, it being down south and Texas to boot, marrying her may be alright .......Hmmmmm. Got to think on that, would make me my own uncle or something! .....................

Anyway, on the way back, stopping at the ranch.....Leassee's are starting to scream about damage from Hogs again, that we've been neglecting because of circumstances. Then up to some dumpy town out in the middle of nowhere that has an annual Packrat celebration. Last year got ridden out of town on a rail, and if it hadn't been for the honor of it all, I think I'd have rather walked. Then on up to Amarillo, across to Santa Fe for a wedding I can't miss on November 24th, and then back home for the winter and getting the house ready for market this coming spring. Somewhere in there, my old company wants me to evaluate a ongoing contract in San Antonio for performance issues.

Wonder if I'll have time to use the bathroom anytime during all this?

Sure hope I can miss the snow with all this running around. Probably get it in Santa Fe.

BTW, The funny story I was going to tell about my first date?...Well turned out not to be so funny. Poor lady was in the midst of a female type problem crises and was trying not to say anything out of embarrassment, and just made it much worse than if she'd just canceled the date or excused herself partway through the dinner. People!

Lady across the street who set it up, told me what had happened, and in retrospect, because of the circumstances, it wasn't all that funny. So am dropping it. Nuff said.

Pack,

Set djones up with your niece! You two could end up as family!

You could spend Thanksgivings and Christmas together! Summer trips to the Grand Canyon? Family reunions?
