Why use good powder for fire forming?
Actually good point. I have one jug of 20N29 that should work fine for fire forming but I still don't have any load data for it.
all my other powders get used in other rifles and there is almost nothing available locally.
Edit: I can get 4831sc also, I shoot it in my 22CM but local shop has a bunch so I could go that route also.
What are you building tbok?. Improved 375 rum
yes, see above or below
I went the whole way, custom reamer from JGS went down to .006 TPI and pushed the shoulder ahead .050" and 40*. Throat for 390 a-tips.

Tbok, what action and shank size are you running on this. I May follow you on this
it's just a Rem700 LA that's been trued. If everything goes according to plan/ expected as far as velocity and such I will likely build another rifle as a dedicated ELR rig.

Have you considered the 300 Norma for mile plus shooting with an 8 in 10" twist? With that twist rate you can shoot 250 Gr. A-tips which will help you see your shot impact down a ways. I am mentioning the 300 Norma due to component availability (which fluctuates with the 300 Norma) and overall cost of ownership as well as down range performance between the 2 calibers. In my opinion getting trigger time and refining your wind calls and making quick follow-up shots will be key to increasing proficiency. Just a thought...

Dude, this thread is about the 375 RUM...not the 300 Norma

Does anyone have a sierra loading manual handy? I used to have an App on my phone but it's gone and deleted from app store.
I'm sure they had the 350 SMK listed for 375 RUM wanted to see if they listed 24N41 (turns out that's the powder I have not 20N29)

What is your overall cartridge length? powder are you using? I'll run it through quick loads tonight.

Bringing this back up !
My 375 1/9 twist 26" Finnish barrel showed up last night ! #5 Rock Creek .
This will be a hunting rifle for Spring Bear in Montana. I'm thinking around 10 to 11 pounds . Not totally sure yet . Remington action I have extra . Loaded up with Remington brass. I'm looking at thd 375 gr Cutting Edge Mth and the 395 gr hammers.
I dont know a thing about chamber specs so I'm looking at all of your post above .
Trying to keep it simple .
Sammi chamber with a longer throat added .
Any thoughts out there ??

Finally not a dream anymore!

Thank you guys for any help !

Rum Man

I've got my barrel ready to go on but I've got a couple matches to shoot with the 30 before I play with the 375.

@Rum Man i set up my freebore for the 390 A-tips but plan on trying some solids also. I'm not sure about Hammers but CE and almost all other solids use a driving band/ bore rider design that usually benefits from a very short free bore. I talked to several producers of solids and they all said I might have trouble getting them to shoot with my long freebore. Only time will tell for me but if you are planning on shooting CE maybe ask them what they recommend for that certain bullet
