In the Ear? Really???

also, i may have a gently cared-for mint condition truck with a few gentle miles on it. never been off road except for parking it in the grass, but not before laying a blanket out for it.

djones, in response to your above statement, you'll excuse me if I'm a bit skeptical, but I think you earned this skepticism when you tried to get me to go to El Paso to look at your Oceanfront property! In fact you didn't want me to go look, you wanted me to buy it sight unseen. Good thing technology has caught up with us. I was able to input the address into the computer and determine that that address was at least 6 miles from the ocean!

BTW, nice hogs and actually in the ear! Glad you mentioned the Rifle my cousin got, as because of circumstances I plumb forgot about it. Will check it out when I get to KC, but that is after my Hog hunt when I go through Texas. May get to use it on the way back if we hunt again. On another note - Night photo's, no Night Vision....you pulling our legs again?.............................:D

On another note I don't appreciate you trying to run under me on a pickup deal with Packrat. My old red pickup has never been off the hiway (much) and was only driven 45 mph and slower. I always used the turn signals when I drove too. It has been over 600,000 actual pampered miles and will still outrun a hog. Better than new!!! And the radio still works! It knows where its going and I have removed the third set of side mirrors so it will get better mileage. All the wires under the bottom of the truck have been lovingly moved where the hogs and what little brush we have (cough) will not pull them into.

Come on by Packrat and we will make a deal......just bring cash as I would not want you to stop payment on a check.

Coy, I had no intention of bringing a check, if you read the posting again, I said I was going to sneak in and steal it!............Sneak it off that motley ranch of yours and give it a new life where it will really be appreciated, even though for it's age it rightfully belongs in a Museum, if you got it when you were 16! djones says you still have your first pairs of grownup underwear too! Saving them for posterior.....or something like that?............

I knew that line sounded familiar!

I had read the above line before when you were describing one of your earlier girlfriends earlier in the thread.

Well, no response from either dj or Coy so guess I'll load up the car and head South. Presently just South of Salt Lake City. Was falling asleep from boredom of driving all day, so stopped for night. Will get to Las Vegas today, and will see if I stay or not.

Will check back later.

DJ,

Nice shooting!

Things have been busy here in SC for me the past few weeks so haven't gone as much as I'd like. Soybeans are 4 feet high, so I'm down to one spot.

Went to my spot last night but saw nothing. I pulled the card from my trail camera before I left. Got home and saw that the big hog I've been after left 45 minutes before I got there. I'll head back tomorrow to bait the spot for the coming week.

I'll post a few pics when I get back to work on Monday.

Got to admit, those are some very nice hogs!.......****, hate to have to give you credit, but no one can say I'm not fair.......:D

Looks like sow was nailed in the ear and maybe a couple of other times in the face, where did you get the Boar? Doesn't show in picture.

Played around the Casino for a couple of hours and walked out with the same amount I walked in with, so guess I should consider that a win.......

Will check back in tomorrow.

checked out a friend's 6.5 creedmoor pof. it's certainly a good looking rifle. when i hefted it all i could think was... man is this a machine. i was able to get a pretty good shot on hog with it, but he made it into the tall grass. i shouldn't have gone in after him, but i really thought he would be lying dead just a few yards in. i followed with pistol and flashlight. when i got close i could see the top of the 8 foot grass lay over as he charged. he had a hard time getting through, and i was able to retreat back to the truck.

the rifle wasn't very maneuverable in the brush, but i wanted the firepower. i held the flashlight against the hand guard and let the suppressor lead the way. this time when he charged, i started firing in the direction of the snarls. after a few shots the flashlight somehow shut off, and i lost my footing, stumbling to the ground in darkness.

i kept my bearings by the moonlight and continued firing where the grass was slapping the ground under his lunging hoofs. the pof dumped the magazine flawlessly in a few seconds. i can only tell the story to this point because i don't have the words to explain the feeling i had while lying silently on the ground with an empty weapon, straining to hear any movement.

Nice hog! That first shot must have been in the nutz. That's probably why he charged or you were standing where he was going. DNS is probably not going to like you competing for his position.

Still a nice hog and a nice rifle too. And a memorable experience.

Talk about missed opportunities, darn hog had him dead to rights and fell down on the job! That's the trouble with so many things nowadays, no follow through......

Was sitting in the casino coffee shop this morning having my normal half gallon of coffee, when two guys sat down in the booth behind me and were talking. The one guy had picked up a girl the night before and took her back to his room. Apparently he had smuggled a pup into his room that wasn't supposed to be there and when they got to the room, the pup was hiding under one of the beds. The guy thought this was great and figured that maybe no one would ever know about the pup. Apparently just as he removed his underwear, the girl mad a comment about " oh what a cute little thing"....The guy said he deflated faster than a flat tire on the freeway, and it took a while to get back to operational status after he realized she was talking about the pup which had come out from under the bed.

Would hate to be that insecure about things!

Wore your spurs and washed her down with a garden hose afterward, huh? Bet she had to furnish the saddle!

Meant to answer this earlier, but forgot!

For whatever reason, my work computer doesn't recognize the memory card from my trail camera, but I was able to use a different computer to get one photo that shows the big black sow that I've been after.

Not sure what she weighs, but she is one the three biggest hogs I've captured photos of during the last 6 years here in SC.

I like anybody that kills hogs! I may be envious of a monster kill, but always pleased for the hunter.

hey double nut spy...

i was also hoping to sight in my buddies atn thor 3 320 on a daniel defense blackout, but i took it off to use as a scouting device. a lot of things i see with the pvs look like hogs... tumble weeds etc. i can always make it out when i look through the night scope, but since it's mounted on the rifle, it was easier to just look through the thor.

i hear a lot of folks say they like using the thermal to spot and nv to shoot. i can certainly see the reasoning behind that, although you seem to do pretty well using thermal as a weapon sight.

i've got the use of his stuff for a couple of weeks. can't wait to check out the thermal on a dark night!!
