How bad is the 7 backcountry?

i haul and have been hauling since '80. granted the turbos and electronics give it a slight edge, but mpg is a joke. my '81 454 (about 390hp) , turbo400 and 3.73's gets me 14.7mpg @ 85mph towing a gcvw of 30-35k into a 25mph headwind. not doing that with a diesel. btw there's nothing electronic on it besides the distributor. my '15 model 3500hd doesn't get anywhere near that (5-6.5mpg). 460's are horrible engines anyway, especially on fuel mileage. $ per mpg goes to the gasolines. torque goes to the diesels only if turbo'd.

I don't know, I think this will open the door to new case materials for the future.
I personally see this as the "future"
Imagine new case materials that will allow the regular .223 or .308 rifles we currently own to be able to reach 80k psi or possibly even higher.
I foresee brass going by the wayside in our future.

At least for bolt rifles, you can run the 277 sig fury through a 308 win die and go shoot it in your 308win rifle now.

But it's not easy to find a 277 Fury barrel, there's one place that was making them recently. Because of the cost to replace an AR barrel, most people don't tend to chamber them for themselves, they just replace them.

Those specialty items tend to be costly on the AR platform, same with any long action cartridges as well. There are a couple long action ARs, but very few, the AR market is mostly mini-action and short-action.

For me, I would want the 277 Fury in a bolt action. That's been true for a long time. Yet another case of the IBM salesman sitting at the end of the bed telling his wife how great the sex is going to be when he gets back, but he's sorry he doesn't have more time before he leaves... The Fury was crying wolf for civilians long before the Backcountry was conceived...it's not clear if the military is using it or not, testing with it, or what is going on with 80,000 psi. We all know how slow the military is upgrade, and what we're seeing with 7BC or Fury is not what they're known to accept, let alone upgrade to.
