How long is the neck length on the 28 nosler and on the 30 nosler? Does a donut form when necking up to the 28 and 30 nosler? They have a 35* shoulder right?

Thanks, Riley

Necking up a 26 Nosler case to a 28 will decrease the shoulder length about .014" and necking it up to a 30 will decrease the shoulder length about .031".

Thanks, im very excited to see what the 28 nosler does with the 180 hybrids. Im thinking 3300-3350 fps out of a 28" barrel.

I'd guess more like 3200 to 3250 from a 28 inch barrel.

I was hoping for 3000 with a 195 gr bullet.

And I hope for just a little more than 3000 from a 26 inch barrel.

We shall all see in time. :D

My 7mm Valkyrie (an improved 7-300 Win Mag) has a case capacity similar to the 26 Nosler: 93 gr for WW Super and 95-96 gr for Norma brass. I'm getting 3300 fps from my 28" shooting 180 Hybrids in front of 86 gr of Reloader 33 lit off by a Russian LRM primer. 40 thou jump. Light ejector marks and easy-open bolt. I think 3350 is doable for the 28 Nosler. RL33 has an ideal energy density and burn rate for launching 180s from these big 7s.

I recently got 3800+ fps from Nosler 120 BTs in front of IMR 7828SSC. Don't want to share the charge as it was pretty hot. gun)

Reamers arrived from PTG.
Time for me to work on the project was not included in the package.

My smith is working on my Edge.
My lathe pedestal is piled high with "stuff".

Work needs me to go in 3 directions at once.

Just found this thread while researching calibers for my next build. I've been left hanging like a movie with no ending. Just wondering if you have any more updates.

The case has a 35° shoulder and .0114" per inch taper. An additional .004" per inch on the taper and 5° on the shoulder won't gain you much.

On my two RUM based wildcats, I left the shoulders at 30°.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't the 7mm/26 nosler The same as gunwerks 7mm lrm? I was under the impression that they were both originally designed off of a 375 ruger case necked down to Either 6.5mm or 7mm. So all the others would be like a 338/375 ruger and so on wouldn't they?

26 Nosler uses a shortened, blown out, and necked down .404 Jeffrey case with a rebated rim. 375 Ruger is its own design with a smaller diameter body (.532 vs. .550). It's also a touch shorter than the 26 Nosler (2.590 vs. 2.580).
