As most are aware …. I enjoy tormenting anything and anyone pertaining to the 6.5 CM.


But, it's time for "True Confessions", I own a 6.5 though "not"a CM.


About 15 years ago we bought a "salvage" (Savage) in 6.5-284 Norma in SS with "fluted" barrel. Great shooting little rifle ……but, far too heavy to hunt with! So, we've only shot it using 139 Scenars.


Question: Has anyone used 139 Scenars on game…..especially on hogs!


If so your opinions……positive or negative……I want to hear them all!

I think if you truly want help with the 6.5 Scenar bullets you should add that to the title of your thread starter or a lot of the people that have shot them won't end up seeing your post and giving you feedback.

Just a thought.

We call it the 6.5 need more! Great gun for women to shoot deer with don't go shoot an elk. I've guided people with a 6. 5 Creedmoor total disaster. Yes I understand shop placement is everything there's not enough muzzle energy at 500 yards, I can throw a softball faster!

Check out the thread "death via scenar" there's some good evidence in there. Enough to make me want to try them. Going to give them a shot in a 6.5prc si.

Do you guide archery hunters too? Do you let them shoot elk with their bow at 50 yards?

Scenars are nasty and I believe they violate the Geneva convention….proceed with caution.

Load them up, they are an awesome bullet.

I got archery hunters too. They go out and shoot and if they are proficient at 50 yards, they can shoot at 50 yards at an elk they pay for the hunt if they can't kill them and draw blood they hunts over it's their prerogative.

Muzzle energy?

I've guided for 35 years. I have seen about every possible Sheet Show you can imagine. The CM is way more capable then haters want to believe and muzzle energy is for CQB. Maybe a tactical shotgun conversation with muzzle energy upon entry is worth the discussion. A 143 at 500 will run 2000+ fps at 500 with 1300+ lbs of energy. That is more than ample of both for proper bullet performance. I would love to see a softball thrown at 1350 plus mph. Imagine the person who would have to catch that sucker.

I have a good friend/shooting partner/hunting buddy that shoots a 6.5-284 and all he uses in the 139 Scenar on game. Not on hogs, but it wrecks Coues, mulies, and coyotes.
