What 22cal would you build?

I'm putting one together now, 7 twist 5R 22X67 AI, Planning on using the 51 AH
Bean, I have a 22-6mm 1-9 twist,26" ss barrel for you to play with if you want?
We only about 4-5 hours away! I will supply brass and dies!
Find out which Hammer it likes!!
Are you interested, let me know!!

I remember about 50+ years ago there was a company making ammo for the 30.06 with a sabot .22BT bullet.
I always thought they stopped making because there was no forensic evidence if this ammo was used to shoot someone. No rifling or barrel metal on the bullet.
Real reason was maybe it didn't work well. Anyone remember this AMMO???
Remington made it, Accelerator is what it was called I think

A 22x67. For the lack of knowledge is the case from? I presently have a 220 swift. If was going to build one I would at lease use a 22/250AI case. I hold in the 55gr area for bullets. I have other to push heaver bullets down the tube. Nothing bad or good, just trying to be enlighten.

Another vote for 22 creed, "boringly accurate" for sure.

@DUCKMAN11 I'd look at the 22 Creed - 7 twist.

Made my way through lots, 223, 223 Ai, 22 Nosler, 22-250, 22-250 Ai, I was fortunate enough to spend time with a good friend around the 22 grendel (this is a fun one) - but for the working man that just wants to grab and go - I'd go with the 22 Creed.......Flat out EASY button!

With your tikka being a good donor here, simply swap the bolt out and have a reputable smith spin you up a barrel. (22 creed is super fun w/18-20'' suppressed.)
I agree that 22 creedmoor is the easy button. My tikka 223 will stay a 223 because I will always own a 223. They are just so cheap to shoot and make a good trainer for the kids.

Having "factory" head stamped brass is a nice option in the 22gt.

I wouldn't be surprised if hornady came out with 22 Creed ammo in the future.

22/250AI (40*) or 22CM (30*). I have used 22CM loads in my 22/250AI 8"tw with very good results, and then I have fire-formed brass. 800-1,000 yards have been a breeze with 80+ grain bullets, and I've pushed a few loads to the 1 mile mark. Next for the longer ranges would be some version of the 22/243.

I have a couple of 223AI's in 8tw, and they are efficient, have worked well on small animals with the 75-80gr bullets, but at the 800-1,000yd range, their energy on larger varmints is not as great as the larger/faster cousins.

Peterson and Alpha both make headstamped 22 Creed brass. ADG used to as well, but I don't think they've made a run for a while now.

As for ammo, maybe Hornady will jump on it sometime. For now, Copper Creek, Unknown Ammunitions, and Texas Ammunition are a few that offer loaded ammo. Pricey, but it's there for those who don't reload at the moment.

Carl, I studied a bunch before I started this build and the Clark is a very interesting cartridge
A sentimental favorite. His shop was on the way to my grandparents. Being from a non shooting family we didn't stop. An uncle took pity on me, and took me to the shop. Very gracious to a kid. I used to have copies of his work, but lost them along the way. Everyone using heavies in .224 owes him. He was building those decades ago, even got Hornady to produce a run of I believe 80 grain bullets. I've seen a box, should have bought them.

My 223ai I had shot 52gr bullets at 22-250 speeds into small groups. I like the idea of head stamped brass and 308 magazine size cartridges. 22-250ai would be about 150fps faster than the 22cm?
