Ok. I read the thread on the 30. Am reading the thread on the 284. I plan on doing both. I also have a 7mm mag that will be re chambered. My question is: can one reamer with two different caliber bushings be used. I called PTG, but David is out of town, so no one could answer that question. Thought you guys might have an answer

The necks and throats will be different. You might get the reamer ground for the 7mm version then ream the neck and throat of the 30 caliber with a separate reamer. I suspect Dave will advise you to get two separate reamers. I'm doing almost the same thing and I'm getting a reamer for each one.

Are you doing your own work or having someone else do it?

I would like to do it myself, but need training. I have some lathe experience and milling machine, but none on rifles. Will get a gunsmith to do it

Well, two would be better. It would be nice if we,as a group could get a price cut on reamers. I might get one as I have my FFL on file with PTG

Since you are going to have someone do it for you, you could find a Gunsmith who has throat and neck reamers.

Also, I have to replace the bolt in the Remington 700 action. Which one that PTG offers will work for the Nosler case

on the throat and neck reamers, what do you suggest. standard depths or a little more throat. I am a hunter and not a target shooter, so I'm not sure which would be better on both calibers

The depth is determined by the person doing the reaming. They can make whatever depth you want. Different people have different opinions about throats. Mine seems to differ from most others so you might want to discuss that with your gunsmith.

Yeah, I figured the 7 mag would. It is a ruger. The 30 caliber is the rem. I looked at PTG's site and saw a remington bolt body. I suppose that I could just change that out and have it opened for the Nosler case

The nosler is a real answer for the 30 cal. I had been thinking about necking down a 375 ruger to the 30, but all of the work to do that was rather daunting. I have a 375 ruger. I bought it to hunt Nilgai in south texas, but when I compare the case capacity and ease of necking up the nosler, there is no comparison
