I checked out the specs and you'really right it is different but really really closr to the 338 RUM with a different shoulder angle. I'm just curious what's the big interest in wildcatting the 26 nosler when the RUM based cartridges will get more performance with significantly cheaper brass and less hassle of resizing the necks(factory brass in 7mm, 300 and 338)?

easier to form the brass easier to get the brass and better brass

I can't speak for anyone but me. I wanted a case for the announced 195 gr Berger bullet. I think the 7mm RUM is too big for a 7mm. I like the capacity of the the 7mm STW but I think it is too long. So I took a 7STW case, filled it with fine sand, then poured that sand into a RUM case and measured it. Then I added a shoulder and a neck to it. When I gave up on those 195 gr bullets, I decided to build a 30 caliber just for fun.

I'm not using 26 Nosler cases to form mine. I'm using RUM cases but the finished size of them are so close, I expect the load data and performance to be almost identical.

Testing day but...

I forgot my Pressure Trace II. Oh well, I'll have to go shooting again. Darn, I love when that happens.

24" barrel

Load data
Bullet: Barnes LRX 200
COAL: 3.5
Powder: IMR 7828 SSC
76 grains, 94% case capacity, 2750fps
77 grains, 95% case capacity, 2632fps
78 grains, 96% case capacity, 2644fps
79 grains, 97% case capacity, 2736ps
80 grains, 98% case capacity, 2972fps
81 grains, 99% case capacity, 2922fps
82 grains, 100% case capacity, 2826fps actually there was a little space

Obviously I had a problem with the chronograph. So I will have to repeat this string.

24" barrel

Load data
Bullet: Cutting Edge MTH C48
COAL: 3.35
Powder: IMR 7828 SSC
77 grains, 90% case capacity, 2875fps, 41k PSI
78 grains, 91% case capacity, 2768fps, missed reading, the Magneto Speed was not set to copper solids.
79 grains, 92% case capacity, 2915fps, missed reading
80 grains, 93% case capacity, 2949fps, missed reading

Lesson learned, copper solids on my V1/V2 do not read as accurately as jacketed.

This series showed lower velocity and lower pressure than predicted, just like the 284, find the pressure indicated on the QL chart and the predicted velocity is within 1%. I would not hesitate to shoot these at the possible speeds. gun)

24" barrel

Load data
Bullet: Berger 190 VLD
COAL: 3.475
Powder: IMR 7828
78 grains, 92% case capacity, 2849fps, 40k PSI
79 grains, 93% case capacity, 2913fps, 44k PSI
80 grains, 94% case capacity, 2922fps, missed reading
81 grains, 95% case capacity, 2956fps, 45k PSI
82 grains, 96% case capacity, 2994fps, missed reading
83 grains, 97% case capacity, 3050fps, 48k PSI
84 grains, 98% case capacity, 3107fps, missed reading

This is the point where the pressure system started acting up. A bit of a bummer. The pressures are probably not trust worthy.

The velocity predictions for this series were within 1% for all the loads.

What is cool for me is that at 3100fps she ain't even trying hard.

Yes my 215 and 230 hybrids arrived.gun)

If you get 3000 out of those 230's, I am going to celebrate.

I think that will be a pipe dream in a 24" barrel. A 30-26 Nosler is basically a 30-8mm/300 Weatherby/300 AI/etc in a shorter package. In a 24" barrel you might see 2900fps but I would bet it's in the 2800's. I haven't shot 230's in my 30-8mm but I have in my 30-338 Norma Imp. with a water case capacity of 110grs (almost the same as a 300RUM) and I shoot 230's 3044fps in a 30" barrel. I think my 30-8mm is 10-12grs less capacity and the Nosler should be within a few grains of that. I would bet my 30-8mm would shoot 230's around 2950fps in a 27" barrel. It shoots 210's at 3100fps. I also have a 30-338 Lapua Imp with a 33" barrel that shoots 230's 3330fps but it uses 111grs of ball powder to get there where the Norma uses 90grs of R-33.

Finished the CEB 180 C48 but I forgot my PC so no pressures

24" barrel

Load data
Bullet: Cutting Edge MTH C48
COAL: 3.35
Powder: IMR 7828 SSC
81 grains, 94% case capacity, 3001fps
82 grains, 95% case capacity, 3069fps
83 grains, 96% case capacity, 3117fps
84 grains, 98% case capacity, 3184fps

Yes it can go faster. I thing the max was in the 55K range. If I really tried I could just see a tiny bit of ejector polishing.

Next series will be all Berger.
210 VLD
215 Hybrid
230 Hybrid

and I got some Reloader 26:D

Testing day

Load data
Bullet: Berger 230 Target Hybrid
COAL: 3.625
Powder: Reloader 33
87 grains, 93% case capacity, ---, 41707psi
88 grains, 94% case capacity, ---, 41885psi
89 grains, 95% case capacity, 2788fps, 45093psi
90 grains, 96% case capacity, 2842fps, 47697psi
91 grains, 97% case capacity, 2870ps, 49170psi
92 grains, 98% case capacity, 2922fps, 52904psi
93 grains, 99% case capacity, 2956fps, ---

I this not max, there is still some to be had but I think the pressure is understated by 3000psi.

This is my first time using Reloader-33. The estimates by QL were within ~50fps but fast for the closer to 90% loads and faster fps at closer to capacity, increased by ~80fps compared to predicted. Perfectly reasonable.

After seeing those numbers, I'm feeling optimistic about getting to 3000 fps with mine with acceptable pressure. My COAL length will be 3.750" and my barrel is 26" long.

those are some pretty good numbers. its only 100 fps slower than my 300 rum with 26 inch barrel and a lot shorter. might have to do one when the 27 nosler is done. less powder, shorter col, no more single feed whats not to like. thanks for all your hard work. even know its going to cost me more money :)
