Hate is a pretty strong word....buuuuut I am generally confounded when folks wax eloquently about the 257 Roberts and/or 300 Savage.
Aren't the straight walls the only option for some of the flat midwest states?I get quite perturbed at the straight wall cartridges of modern day. 350 legend, 400 legend, 360 buckhammer etc.
I love myself a 25-06 and a 257 weatherby. I don't know why but those two cartridges just do it for me.
I'm taking the covid test.Is everyone feeling ok?
lol it's other than the NeedMore ️Only 2 mentions of the creedmoor in 8 pages? Is everyone feeling ok?
I'll bite. I hate any straight wall cartridge that was invented after smokeless powder. Aaaand pretty much anything from hornady with a couple exceptions.
It is. I get why they exist but thankfully I live in a state with hills and it's not my only option.Aren't the straight walls the only option for some of the flat midwest states?
The .270 Weatherby and the .270 AI are running around the same, the .270 AI might have a slight edge over the Weatherby? Our .270 AIs are running a 150gr Nosler ABLR between 3100-3300 fps, components are a lot less than the Weatherby and the AI uses about .25% less powder. Our rifles have 26 inch, 1:10 twist barrels so we haven't tried anything heavier than the 150 gr bullets. I know there are others in the forum shooting who have rifles built with 1:8 twist barrels shooting 170+ grain bullets getting velocities in the 2900fps range270 Weatherby ️
My 257 is in an old 760 REM that's had the trigger done, (light& sweet) My Uncle Karl had one that he hunted deer & Elk with. He sold it before he knew I would've loved to have itI'm not good enough with words to wax eloquently about the 257 Roberts or 300 Savage, or anything else for that matter. But I must say that each cartridge and rifle built to shoot them has certainly won the hearts of their owners over the decades. Lots of folks taking a trip down memory lane will expound on their rifles, the memories and cherished moments made while toting them through the woods, forests, plains and mountains. All in pursuit of game for the table.
I do love my Ackley Improved version of the 257 Roberts, and recall with great fondness the time spent wth my dad reloading for the 300 Savage Lots of reasons to love something.
Alright, alright. This threads now gone too far! LolEvery 28cal
