243 or 6mm reminton

6CM. You will get a better twist rate, allowing the use of heavier higher BC bullets. A 105 Hyb is a deer slayer. We have killed mule deer out at 500+, and pronghorn too. No problems.
My 24" 1:7.5" 6CM pushes a 105 @ 3188fps, or 115 VLD @ 3085fps.
I have all three 6mm's (.243, 6 Rem, 6CM) + two 6x45's. All are very good. However, if you're just getting into the 6mm mode my vote would be to go 6mm CM.

As already stated by a few I would consider 6cm as well if simply because they have small rifle primed brass. I have a custom 243 from Sheridan wyo that I really like and it's very nice but I use the 6cm a lot more just because of the primer availability

Question: Where to get good 6 Remington brass?

243 Win loaded with R#26 with 100-105's is 3150 in a 24" barrel!

No flies on a 6 Creed!
if 6mm Remington brass is staying out of reach, the 7x57 or 257 Roberts is the parent case. One would need to score a lot of it to make necking and forming worthwhile.

Question: Where to get good 6 Remington brass?

Good question.

I bought my supply when I was busy working on the 6mm Crusader quite a number of years ago. It was plentiful then and very reasonably priced so bought a lot of it. I also have a good supply of 7mm, 8mm Mauser brass which can be used in a pinch. The 6mm Remington is very scarce even though I still check vendors for it. The conversions mentioned work well with the exception of the tedious process involved. I hold onto the .257 Roberts just for that chamber specifically.

I just received a supply of .25-06 brass so the once slightly ignored 6-06 will be back on the menu for this fall. The .240 Weatherby will always be on the top of my list since it goes with me on all Coues deer hunts.

Just for fun:

.243 for sure easy to find good ammo. Now you would be cutting yourself short at 300 yards. I shoot the hammer 75gr hht in mine it's an ar-10 and I just took a large hog at 522 yards with it bang flop. I tell all my friends that are getting into hunting a .243 is ideal. Killed lots of large whitetail wit that round not to mention pigs and a very nice audad.

243 for the Win !
I put the smack down on some Whitetail with a factory stainless Remington and the 95 gr bergers !
I was so happy with it I left the 300 Rum in the Safe last fall .

I would like to that info on the 105 and re-26! Now that sounds exciting !

I'm a 6mmAI fan. Brass hard to get, fire form, etc… it's a killer with 115's. It's the only rifle I have that shoots in the high ones or low twos. I use it for coyotes but would not hesitate to use it for deer out to 500. As always, shot placement is paramount!

No experience with the 244 Rem, but lots of game with the 243 Win. Antelope, whitetail, mule deer, coyotes most using H4350 or H414 behind a Sierra 85 gr HPBT bullet. It has always worked out to 400+ yards.
Most current rifle is a light weight Kimber Montana (my walking varminter). This is what it can do off a bench when I do my part.

My own decision was .243 and to go with the AI. Not for any added speed, but for the throat and brass life. I am expecting the sharper shoulder to let the throat live a little longer. As with all true AI's can shoot standard ammo in it, so going AI doesn't limit you to hand-loads only.
