243 ackly

I have a 243ai w/12 twist. Will not stabilize anything heavier than 85-90gr. Great coyote round. I have not shot any deer but the gun did take two MT antelope w/85gr Sierra HPBT.

I have a friend w/3 6mm A.I. He loves the round and has dumped a lot of W.T. using Barnes bullets.

The .243ai should be close to a 6mm Rem in performance.

would you be better off then if he went with a 240 weatherby in a factory gun. i would assum with a 26 inch barrel.he has about 2000 $ to work with .

I'm a 243 fan, but all this has got me thinkin...243something else. I'd like to redo my 243 Xbolt which has been a tack driver that now has about 2K rounds down the tube.
But it's not easy finding a smith to rechamber/rebarrel them. Anyone got a good recommendation?

Don't know if they will work on a Browning or not

.240 Weatherby brass is kinda hard to get isn't
It?
Just bought one in a Vanguard and three boxes of ammo along with reloading dies from Midway. Ammo is hard to find but it's around and once you have cases you are good for a while. Tried to make cases out of .270 cases. Going slow I had them formed well but the belt it formed is just a little too wide or long. Won't quite chamber. Stay tuned.

I have a few 243 Wins and a 6CM…….splitting hairs cuz dead is dead. Only prefer the 6CM because the 20" Kimber muzzle blast is surprisingly fierce!
6CM on the deer, Son's youth 700 in his scabbard and the 243 Kimber on the tree.

Given up on trying to make .240 Weatherby brass. It's close but close doesn't count. Can't seem to get an inquiry though to CH Die about their availability of .240 forming die so I'll stick to factory brass. Good luck with your .243 AI
