Another .284 Win in a long action, this time with 24" barrel (as opposed to the 26" that I am running currently). Over 3.1K ft-lbs at the muzzle and with the tight twist can launch anything between 150 - 195 grains reliably.

What is a 7am?

It is a cartridge design that can not be used before legal shooting time. It was an incredible development by Kirby Allen. It stops working when you should go home for the mid day quiet time.

Unfortunately it will not reactivate for the evening hunt. You have to switch to the 300AR (after rest) for the evening hunt.

I just picked up a Kimber Mountain Ascent in 6.5 Creedmor.
We used my custom 280 Ackley with 175 ABLRS and 7977, along with my Kimber Hunter in 6.5 Creedmor ( Hornady Precision Hunter factories)
I said screw it to dealing with that 28 Nosler... was a wasted effort. The barrel was WAY too sensitive. I sent it in to be rebarreled to a 338 Edge.
I'm going to be liquidating my 30 cals in short order. 338 and 6.5s. With the advent of new bullets, the need for middle ground imo..... is simply not there anymore.

A switch barrel...
  • 6.5x55, loaded to modern pressures with Reloader 26
  • .284 Win, long action, using Reloader 26
  • 7.92x57, loaded to near-max pressure with IMR 4064
That would handle everything. Nicely.
