I have shot plenty of 30 cals...plenty of 284s...and a few 264...
I seem to not have the bigger is better craze....it doesn't justify the end result....more bullet diameter, more powder usage, more recoil...just don't need it to kill an animal, and paper still only shows holes......284 was/is a nice cartridge but still tears critters up....
260 was right on the verge of being too small a package....
But like GoldieLocks and the three bears......I think that the 6.5/.284 Norma is the best to sleep with.....just about any age and or sized person can tolerate the recoil in a hunting rifle package.....

300WM
This caliber has been my go to firearm.
However, with 60+ yrs of experience my preference is the 7-08Rem. This caliber can be loaded light for varmints and increased bullet weight for elk.
It's bullet design is right in their with the new 6.5CM and the 6.5PRC. The 6.5x284Norma has more horsepower. But potential barrel life is greatly reduced.
Note:
7-08 confirmed Kills 20yds to 600yds on deer and elk
300WM 45yds to 870yds bear, deer and elk

All the parts are ready to be sent off to the smith for a 6mm creedmoor build. Kelbly atlas tac, bartlein 1:7.5 27" medium palma, trigger tech diamond trigger, badger bottom metal, manners stock. My area has caliber restrictions so was looking for something more to tinker with. Fast, flat, little recoil, on the cheaper side to shoot, factory ammo option if ever needed. 6mm creed seemed like the way to go.

Long range moose and bear rifle will be next for sure. 300. Win mag I figure

300 WM just because of component and factory ammo accessibility and versatility of the bullets available. Basically, out of the list you can do it all without much effort.
