Who's successfuly using imr 8133?

That's interesting that IMR 8133 is so much slower than H1000 but it showed more pressure at the same speeds?
As I mentioned earlier in this thread ,almost classical definition of a faster burning powder than Retumbo.

I tried it to get more velocity since most ppl have seen an increase with 8133. I guess it didn't work in my gun.
Have you tried retumbo in yours yet to compare all 3? And curious if the 8133 acts faster in Lapua bolt face cartridges with powder charges in the 90-100gr range? It seems that's where people have been liking the results with it.

Not yet... my local store was out of Retumbo. I hope to try it soon. It's going to be hard to beat the h1000 on accuracy. It should have better velocity.

I ran it up to 98.5 grains in my 338 Edge. No pressure and hit 2940 with 28" barrel. 95-96.5 had three shot group for 1.25" at 300 and speeds were:
95-2800
95.5 2810
96-2830
96.5-2820

I've only shot a few rounds at 225 yards to find max pressure and determine velocity. The 8133 had slightly more pressure and slightly less velocity in my gun. The 8133 is top picture and h1000 is on bottom. My gun likes the h1000.

Your h1000 load looks real good. I guess that I would probably stick with that. Seems like the 8133 was finicky for you but it looks like you might have been on a node somewhere between 88 and 88.5 grains of 8133 if that's two in the same hole I'm seeing. I know there's a lot of schools of thought on this sort of thing but I've found nodes in multiple rifles that were somewhere between 2940 to 2960fps. Possibly 88.3 grains of 8133 may put several in the same hole for you.
Thanks for sharing your results.

Yeah the 8133 shot good but the h1000 shot great... I'm going to stick with it for now... might try 8133 in my 300 WM since it really didn't like h1000 or I need to change seating depth or neck tension to get it to shoot.

Anybody else got any 300 win mag data for 8133? Waiting on all my supply to come in before I give it a whirl. Has anybody tried it with the 230's? Be interesting to see what the 300 win will do with it.

I will have some data tomorrow mid afternoon.
Sig brass 2nd firing
Fed215 m
Hbn Berger 215
Loaded up 74 to 79 in .5 grain increments
Christensen arms long-range Mesa
300 win mag

I personally believe the 215 is a better bullet for the 300 win mag than the 230.
Until you pass 1250 yards the 215 wins, beside kinetic energy.
You just can't get the velocity to top the 215.
In the 300rum hands down 230

I shot the 300 NM improved with 230 hybrid and 8133 last night. 26"
Barrel. 91.5 for 3100 was pressure. Looks like there is a node around 3050. 89.5 and 90 went 3066-3064 and same hole at 200

short one at 74 came in at 2650 ft per second discontinued jumped up to 76 shot right at 2780 only shot one went to 78 es of 20 avg fps of 2940
79seen pressure
Went home and loading @ .2 grain increments from 78 to 78.8
I think I can fine tune her and then we'll have to go into hot and cold temperature extreme testing

That's great and similar to mine. Good to see others in the same ball park as me. I posted earlier but I ended up at 78.1 at .010 off the lands in my Ridgeline. This gets me teens for ES and 2960 fps avg. I start to see pressure when I was loading closer to 79gr.

Ya that' sounds like a good load for sure. Some fine adjustments and your in it. Similar velocity too. How far off the lands did u start, and what was your coal?

I agree the 215 is better suited for the win mag. I was just curious if anybody tried it to see how this powder will do with a 230 berger. I pretty sure back few years ago Broz tried it and was getting 2775 in a 28 inch tube with h1000. Seeing how this is offering close to 100 fps faster than h1000 should work well with the 230.
