Sorry but,.. I'm NOT into,.. "Antiques" as,..
I like Modern, Cartridge "Designs" ( High BC's, Longer Necks, Less Tapered Bodies, better Barrel Life, etc )
I'm "Old School" except on, Cart Design's as they have, come a LONG Ways, since those were,.. invented.
Just Funnin' with you, as all of yours will go,.. "Bang" for sure ! ( I really Liked my, 6 MM Rem, too ! )
I started, Hunting Big Game at, 15 y/o with, a .30-06 and still wouldn't feel, Under Gunned with it, Today !
Having Read, too much of, the Jack O'conner stuff as, a Kid,.. I skipped His Beloved .270 Win and went,.. .270 Weatherby
Back in the Days of, NO Range Finders, it was,.. Awesome !

YUP, I succumbed to His "Chit", too and HAD to shoot, a .338 Win Mag. with 210's at almost, 3,000 FPS, UN-Braked, for MANY Years !
Found out later, that, a .270 WSM with, 140 Bergers at, 3,200 FPS, Kills Elk,.. JUST as,.. Dead !
Grew a Brain finally and SOLD, the .338 WM. but, still HAVE,.. "the Flinch" !
IT appears, every once, in a while when shooting, the .270 WSM !

A flinch developed at a young age from getting the S.#&* kicked out of you can follow one for Decades

Before Buying, a 6.5 Creed, L-H, Tikka, I almost went with, a Rem 700, L-H in,.. .260 Rem !
A Fine chambering as was, the 7 SAUM but, Remington "dropped the Ball" on SEVERAL Cart Design's with, wrong size, Actions, "Leade's" and Bullets.
Yup, the ole .06 was a "Bruiser" with, 180's and that's probably where, my Flinch "started", also !
At my age, Now,.. I can't remember, the Recoil of the .30-06, but DO remember,.. that, Un-Braked, .338 !

My wife kinda likes her .338 WM, she's used .243's, .264 WM's, and a 270 Win…..not impressed with "squirrel rifles"! But, she's not easily intimidated by a little recoil….doesn't have "the flinch"!

Better re-chamber for 340 Weatherby
We discussed it when we first got it for her! Not that much velocity gain for the expense, brass (when we could buy brass) was more readily available for the WM, we had a bunch of once fired brass given to us, and……I'm not overly enamored with the Weatherby case design.
She's pretty content with it, as is! memtb

It wasn't purchased for that specific purpose…..but, worked pretty darn good!
Matter of fact…..it's worked pretty darn good for everything I've used it for…..fur, fish, or fowl!
