Is it possible to break 3000 fps in a 26 inch barrel with a 7rm and a 180 grain bullet?

I'm pushing a 168 over 3,100... I'm sure with the right powder combo, and with the right barrel, you might could get close, if not meet your goal. I think I've heard of folks getting 3K with a Berger 180. You'd probably have to use something like 7977 or H1000 to get enough case fill to make it work.

Reloader 26, 180 Berger throated accordingly, will run at 3k from a 26" tube. Will be a stiff load, use good brass.

The problem I am running into is that I want decent barrel life. If I went 28 nosler with the 195 or 197 @3050-3100 would I have better barrel life than say a 7lrm with 180s @3000-3100? How about a 7rm with 180 @3000? I am guessing running the 28 somewhat mild would be better on brass. I just want to push something that is at least a 180 @3000-3100. I do not want to push the 7rm that hard though. What is my next best option? I hear Peterson and ADG are going to start making 28 nosler brass. Thanks!

7mm blaser is a great case with quality norma brass. Will push 180s @ 3k, or slightly higher. The case has a long neck, and with 180s seated properly in neck, don't exceed 3.35" oal. It's basically a 82gr capacy 7mm saum. I'd personally build this over a 7 rem mag.

Does the Blaser have a magnum bolt face or do you need a Lapua sized bolt head?
