Man you are mistaken, that 6.5 crapmore is more power full than that 300wm. It will kill 3 generations of African elephants in Tanzania with one shot and you don't even have to leave the US because it's so flat shooting. Its case design creates a vortex like a jet engine that sends the bullet down the barrel and Mach 8. It's so powerful you can miss close and still kill an elk just from its pressure wave.
The only 30 cal worth having is a 300BS. The 220gr bullet is used by some special forces as an anti tank round. Put a suppressor on it and you can kill 10 tanks without the others even knowing you are there.

The ammo for 22 wmr, 17 wsm, 17 hmr (even saw 5mm rem mag on auction the other day) is more expensive by far than just handloading for a 22 or 17 hornet or even a downloaded 223. I just don't get the appeal.

For the average hunter who doesn't reload and who hunts well within their capabilities, you are probably hitting close to the head of the nail.

The sheer variety of factory offerings would allow a person to have cheap practice ammo, quality varmint ammo and even heavy for caliber ammo for larger game within reasonable parameters.

I bought the 2 X-Bolt 6.5 Creedmoor rifles strictly to cut down on rounds thru my 280 Ackley rifles. It gives me the ability to find cheap accurate S&B 140gr soft points for $20ish shipped and a variety of bullets of varying construction and design to shoot anything within my capabilities and be confident doing so.

The fact that I can put the kids behind the rifles makes it even more enjoyable to own.

FTR, they will not replace the 280 Ackley for any of my serious hunting.

Buy a dedicated 16 twist 22lr AR upper and a dozen Mad Dog 25rd magazines and you will gain a new appreciation for the 22lr. Especially if you have kids.

I actually have 3 and I am going to build one on a custom action hopefully sometime in the next few months, just too much turmoil and grief in my household at the moment.
