I have a custom sporter Husky M38 with a turned down barrel which shoots .5 groups all day; great little rifle. But when you say "M42B" Are you referring to the M41B Ajack sniper rifle or the AG/M42B semi? Either one are rare cats.

I have both but I haven't hunted with the 41... yet

Hi guys, hey what's your best deer rifle, mine is a Browning A bolt 30-06.

Mines a 2008(FN) model 70 270 wsm. It's in a B&C stock nowadays. Shoots 130 gr Classic Hunter's and AB's and BT's with 58.2 grs of rl16 at sub moa, ~3100 fps. Could be faster. 130 fed vital shocks are 3300 fps, exactly, like the box says. It's killed a cow elk and a bunch of deer. It's so devastating at closer ranges am switching to a 129 gr LRX solid.
Model 70's don't get the love they deserve nowadays. Since FN took over Winchester they've gone back to the pre 64 model 70 with control round feed. Best factory action imo. You do need to drop in a Timney trigger though. Factory trigger is OK but mine was 3.0#'s at its lowest.

Used an `06 most of my hunting life with very good results. I just picked up a custom ar-15 in 6.8spcll. Cant wait to use it on a nice northern michigan buck next season. Trying nosler 110 accubonds. Using 110 VMax for deer and pigs pushed with IMR4198. Somewhere over 3k swine so far, 22 Hill Country deer one shot kills on deer. No, the Vmax, does not explode on outside, penetrates 6"-12"and pulverizes everything. U will be amazed with 6.8, use with confidence out to 400Yds.....

Living in NJ I can't use a rifle but my new custom ML is it for me. My McWhorter 45XML can be used not only in muzzleloader season but also during shotgun season so it will get a lot of use.

Christensen Arms MPR in 6.5 PCR, great Whitetail gun and I also used it to take a Kudu, Zebra, Eland, Bush Buck & Impala in S. Africa last June!
