Remington 710, .270. A cheapie in comparison to others, but still drives nails and knocks the Whitetails down. With the polymer stock, I don't worry about nicking it up so much.
For HUNTING deer, my Marlin 336 in .35 Remington w/ 200gr Remington CoreLokt RN.
For AMBUSHING deer (sitting in a stand or blind and waiting for them to walk by), I use a Savage 110 in 30-06 w/ 150gr Winchester Power Points. I take longer shots from the stand than I do walking through the brush.
What this lacks in barrel it makes up for in horsepower Ruger SRH in 454 casull
The 30-06 Striker droped this guy like a rock 450 yards!
Used an old J action savage with a 708 sporter barrel to get this one @ 635yards
Another blast from the past, another smoothbore fatality
They aint deer but dont tell the little 6.5x55 Sweede that.
The Ruger 7mag cant tell the difference either
Favorite??? The one in my hand at the time.........
The 338 Edge might just get the call this year? Or maybe the Savage Axis in 6.5-284, heck even I dont know yet.
For Pa, love my lil Ruger RSi in 270win, out west deer/Goat gun Abolt 270wsm, and bigger critter gun is old faithful Ruger mk 338winmag w/kdf brake. The favorite is Abolt 270wsm. My wife bought it for me. I knew she was a keeper forsure then.
I've got a Mauser .308 that works good with Hornady 150 gr. Spire Points and W748. I've got another Mauser in 8mm for closer shots with 150 gr. Speer and IMR 4895. And finally a 1942 year 1903 Rem. .30-06 that I bought that had been sportered some. Its a great shooter with iron sights and Hornady 150 gr. handloads. I'm gonna put on a Williams reciever sight in a little while.
