What is your best deer rifle

This year I put the Browning A Bolt 30/06 aside to try a Browning X bolt 6.5 Creedmoor, there was no disappointments with this rifle and caliber. It just might become my favorite.

I am a Newbie. Enjoyed reading all of the post. My favorite is a 7mm STW necked down to 25mm. Ferguson out in Texas built the rifle for me about ten years ago, and I have yet to loose a deer or have to track more than 50 yards. .25 MOA when I do my part, and shooting a 100 grain lost rive ballistic copper bullet at 4000 fps. Speed kills and this thing shoots flat.

My second best is a Browning White Gold in 300 Win Mag. shooting 150 grain bullets. Any I can find will generally shoot MOA out of this gun with a little tinkering with the BOSS. Trophy Bonded Bear claws will do .5 MOA. Don't have but a few of them left. Really a beautiful piece of wood.

My 6.5-06 has been a consistent deer rifle for several years. Just rebarreled an old M70 270 I purchased 40 years ago. It uses 142 LRAB over 59gr Retumbo in Lapua brass at 3130 fps. Had to push this bullet over 3100 to dial it in but is 1/3 MOA (zeroed at 300 yards) and causes devastating organ damage while leaving surprising little meat damage. Just a very comfortable rifle to shoot. No brake and little recoil and in this part of the country it seldom has a shot less than 350 yards (AZ coues)

Hill Country Rifles-worked over Remington 700 in .25-06. Hart barrel, McMillan lightweight stock. Good for antelope and deer.

My only rifle, so that makes it my favorite rifle (most deer hunting is done with a T/C Encore handgun or XP-100):

Remington 700 LH stainless 300 RUM built by Beanland Custom Rifles.

Surprisingly few big 338s listed here. Maybe the locals are right and I am nuts shooting deer with the Edge, Lapua and bigger 338s.

I have hunted deer with 243 (rem700), 7mm rm (sav 11), 308win (mauser 98 & rem 700), 3006 (parker hale & ruger 77), 3030win (contender), 300wm (ruger #1) & 338wm (win bolt)
My favorite all around the 7rm savage 11, muzzle brake burris full field 3X9, It is light, accurate, easy to carry and aim and takes a beating

I don't know about that toddc, you sure don't have to shoot them twice with something that big and I'm quite sure there's no tracking wounded deer either.:D

T/c venture 300 wing mag 180gr sst superformace 4x12x50 leupold vxr .shoots 1/2"'and under and the firedot seems like cheating .i have killed over 50 deer with this combo and none have taken a step .

Most of my deer have been killed with an 870 and a Hastings slug barrel, but that is not a rifle... My favorite this year was a 1955 Model 94 30/30. My kids have been dirt napping deer lately with a 700 in 7mm-08. That is a hell of a deer round with low recoil and plenty of power. 300 RUM is **** efficient as well, although haven't seen what it will do at less than 300 yards.

So I don't know, I guess I will stick with the 30/30 until next year as my favorite, thinking 25-06 for upcoming season...
