What 22cal would you build?

I would do a 22 Creedmoor with a 8 or possible 7.5 twist barrel. I would run 75 to 90 grain bullets and kill all sorts of coyote and deer with it. I wold want the 75 gr Swift scirocco for deer and probably something softer for the yotes. Swift might come out with an 81 grain scirocco, which I would switch to if it becomes available

Well the 22-08 was one of the original of the 08s wildcats. Then the Needmores came out with faster twists 6.5 Creedmore in 1:8
Just that Remington didn't come out with fast enough twists .260 . 243 FAST enough before the Needmores. If Remington did there would not be Needmores.
Yes the 22 Needmore is a great cartridge and the wildcat 22-08 is a little better.

However you can shoot the 22 BR with a Berger Hybrid 85.5 gr bullet with 0.524 BC 1:7 to 1:8 excellent results for a 1,000 competition cartridge.
I am sure these will take down deer size animals up to 600 yds with 800 ft lb and 2K fps

He said "Needmore!!" Get it!? Hey guys, guys, Need MORE!!! See!? Its hilarious 😂.

22 CM. When you look at span of vel and bullet weights, number and size of the nodes. Powders that work. IMO, the 22CM is the best of the CMs. I would look only to use single base powders and for me for those ranges and it being a pest gun stick with long heavy high bc. Not be too concerned with ideal terminal perf. Fine using target bullets. If 22CM was not an option 22-250 AI

If it were my personal build
Origin SA
24" CM GT 7.75-7 Bartlein Nitrided
Chambered: 22 CM throated to allow for the bullets below
Trigger Tech Diamond Pro if single stage or Hubel Concept 2 stage. (I like 2 stage triggers for LR)
Manners EH1 with Hawkins DBM or XLR Element 4.0 magnesium
AI mag
Scope Choice in price brackets: ZCO ZC420 4x-20x50 MPCT3 or March-FX 4.5x-28x52 FML-TR1 or Leupold Mark 5HD 3.5-18x44 PR2 or Burris XTRIII 3.5X18X50

Bullets I would load
95 SMK
90 A-Tip
90 VLD
88 ELD
85.5 LRHT
70 HH
70 SBDII

Making cases?
The 25 CM is as simple as changing a neck bushing, and running 6.5 CM brass thru it. Necking down .007" isn't what I call making cases.
Load data is simple, Look at 6.5 CM data and adjust accordingly.

I said I spent too much time making cases—I had 8 wildcats at one time—some required extensive process to get useable cases—and the fun diminished for me—so I kind of told myself no more…

If I was doing another .22 I would revive my .224MBOC. It has about the same volume as a .30-06 with a 7/16" long neck. The shoulders are sort of parabolic. I used a shortened .264 case as the parent.
