If we are talking necessary, get your sage brush bow and your reed and flint arrows and stop kvetching.I'll play.
Anything with RUM or Weatherby in the name.
None of them are even remotely close to being necessary.

338 RPM for me…same reasons.6.5 rpm. The long action mild 6.5 magnum the market was waiting for....
Paired with the 6 lug Mark V for 5-6lbs they make sense but agree on the cartridges not doing anything that the existing market already has.338 RPM for me…same reasons.6.5 rpm. The long action mild 6.5 magnum the market was waiting for....
Q: What's another Cartridge we can Hate/Love?I couldn't put Love/hate cuz that's wrong with the man bun scenario cartridge being I'd shoot a sling-shot before "it" so I started with The hate
We need Another Cartridge that can spur up such Drama, controversy, & hundreds of pages of written entertainment!
Don't go hating on the 308! I have 5-6 from Win 88 to a Sako 85 Varmint. As John Prine said " they are what they are and they ain't what they ain't "308 winchester
I kinda like the idea of a 338 RPM. I was going to build a 338-06AI but thought I'd go RPM instead. No fireforming, more case capacity and Petersen brass. I think it has its place. Will it replace my 338 RUM, or a lapua, Norma etc? NO.338 RPM for me…same reasons.
Teenage girls. We act like teenage girls. "I don't like her because she's popular."Why in the world would any of us hate having another option in the market? Why do we care? I am reminded of the popular meme series with the caption "show me on this doll where the (insert the name of a cartridge) hurt you."
While I like some cartridges better than others, I am not emotionally invested in any of them.
You get props for admitting that you are acting like a teenage girlTeenage girls. We act like teenage girls. "I don't like her because she's popular."
For example, I don't like Glocks. I know Glocks are reliable. I know Glocks have been around forever. I have no reason to dislike Glocks. However, I illogically don't like them because of their fanboi following that don't give any other manufacturer the time of day, making sure we all know it, too.
On the flip side of that coin, I am in love with the 6mmARC for illogical reasons. My daughter shoots her deer with it. She's my hunting buddy. I love her. I love the cartridge. Illogical? Yes. Still emotionally invested? Yes.
Now, I realise I just painted with a very broad brush...
You can't chamber 300 BLK in a 5.56 barrel. You can chamber 5.56 in a .300BLK barrel.
