What’s another Cartridge we can Hate/Love?

I'll bite, 30-06! It's been factory loaded from the 55gr accelerator to a 220gr round nose. Available in semiautomatic, pump, bolt, single shot, double rifle and drillings. It's been used all over the planet to kill every kind of game animal. EVERY cartridge wishes it was as good as it is, lol. Also, available today in a low recoil or high energy factory loads to either mimic a 308 or 300 win mag if you choose. Go…
I've got a friend that would love your ideas. He's a more or less one rifle hunter.
CZ550 With a manners stock, leupold VX5 and loaded to near 300 WM . 168 ELDX, pole axes everything.

Because new stuff pushes some decent old stuff off the ammo shelves. One of the recent Vortex Podcasts chronicled the .30 Remington AR. That chambering should have stood the test of time. It was sadly introduced at the wrong time and the marketing was mishandled a bit.
Yeh, I have a factory barrel for that round. I would like to find a lower. When looking into it I as hearing that the dimensions were proprietary. I had a custom bull encore barrel chambered for it and it's a tack driver. When the round came out I figured it was close to a 30BR.

Teenage girls. We act like teenage girls. "I don't like her because she's popular."
For example, I don't like Glocks. I know Glocks are reliable. I know Glocks have been around forever. I have no reason to dislike Glocks. However, I illogically don't like them because of their fanboi following that don't give any other manufacturer the time of day, making sure we all know it, too.
On the flip side of that coin, I am in love with the 6mmARC for illogical reasons. My daughter shoots her deer with it. She's my hunting buddy. I love her. I love the cartridge. Illogical? Yes. Still emotionally invested? Yes.
Now, I realise I just painted with a very broad brush...
Same reason I love the Grendel. Know about half dozen kids that killed their first deer with my CZ527.

Am I missing something? Are you saying that the .30 Remington AR -- a cartridge introduced in something like 2008 -- is a decent, old cartridge that has been pushed off the ammo shelves? That doesn't strike me as old. It seems more like a new offering that just didn't catch on. While I was admittedly never looking for it, I suspect it was never on a lot of ammo shelves anyway.

Fair enough on your larger point, though. That is just the market doing its thing. Right or wrong, some old things remain relevant in the marketplace and other things do not. I think we still want innovation in our marketplaces though. ... and adding one offering while taking away another still leaves us with at least as many options to choose from.

Hmmm. You may be correct; and I'm not going to try to prove you wrong.
However, my gunsmith has a barrel cut in half lengthwise showing a 30 cal. bullet extruded and stopped half way down a .223 hole. His story is that the previous owner shot a 300blk down it by making the mistake I mentioned.
I'm taking the story at face value, but you have given me some cud to chew on.
How would the 30 cal burret fit in the 223 throat??????

I don't like the grip angle on glocks otherwise I'd probably own one or more
I'm quite interested in the 6ARC, I do like the AR15
I do have a DPMS GII in 243 that is light and it's mostly my daily carry rifle lol although I do grab others so they don't get "lonely" 🤣 and these are lighter also as they accompany me in the woods on the wheeler or snowmobile
Keep Painting 🎨 😃

Some of the old good stuff does not get shelf space. Some of that is regional. I work at a Midwestern outdoor retailer. I see guys looking for 8mm and 7mm Mauser, .257 Roberts, Various Weatherby stuff, .35 Remington...and a ton of older cartridges that do not get much support from ammunition companies. The various newer chamberings are there but not the older stuff. The tried and true like .30-06, .300 WM, .308, .270, .30-30... But if a guy has something that was once considered a deer camp standard then good luck.

Some chamberings that were a flash in the pan like the .30 Remington AR came and went. Hunters and shooters may have bought rifles thinking they would be set for many years to come are stuck with tomato stakes unless they reload and can find brass. Other newer "next great things" have replaced the older "next great things". The standards just keep chugging along. .30-30, .308, .300 WM, .30-06, .270... What can't you do with that lineup? Why do we need anything else?

My gun safe includes .22 LR, .22 WMR, .380, 9mm, .45 ACP, .223/5.56, .30-30, .303 British, .243, .30-06, .300 WSM, 12 gauge, 20 Gauge, and .410. The newest chambering I have is the .300 WSM and that is a 24 year old chambering now. I will not hate on anyone shooting something new. For me I can do everything I need to with my line up.

because of the difference in case length. I have seen the result of the 300bo fired in a TC contender 223 barrel. Was hard to open but intact. AR's do not fare as well. When folks decide to not pay attention all sorts of things are possible. 270 Win in 270 Weatherby, 308 win in 7mm Mag. One type of ammo on the bench at a time is still wise. Marking AR15 mags and uppers is also wise
