Rebarrel Remington 700 BDL?

I bought this rifle in the 70's and have used it to shoot a lot of animals. It's a .270 Win. and I believe is a 1:10 twist. It still shoots into an inch at 100 but I'm thinking about rebarreling to get a threaded barrel for a suppressor. I mainly use it for Pronghorn, deer, coyote, hog, and perhaps Black bear. Spot and Stalk is my main hunting method but I also do some stand hunting. I shoot a lot of 130 and 140 grain bullets (Nosler Ballistic Tips, Partitions, Accubonds, Sierra Game Kings, Hornady Interlocks, etc.)

What twist rate would you all recommend?
What barrel length?

There is a big ole hole to look down with this one. Actually it all depends on what you want to do with the rifle. The 1/10 twist will get you stabilized up to 150 gr. If you want to take advantage of the heavier 277 bullets then you need to increase the spin rate. If you go with a 1/8 it should 140 gr on up (does in my 6.8 Western) but you might lose some accuracy with 130 gr. As for barrel length, again depends on how you hunt. I much prefer 24 and 26 inches, but I'm not crawling through places that the rabbits won't go either. To get the best from your ammo I would not go below 24 inches, keeping in mind that the longer the barrel the higher the velocity. I don't deal with replacement barrels, but I do have a lot of friends who do. They seem to prefer Kreiger and Bartlein. Up to you to decide how much you want to spend, but I would recommend Stainless over Chrome Moly.
