Which barrel company for Remington 700 rebarrel (sporter)?

I like my Bartlein barrel that I put on my Winchester 70 chambered in 30-06. I went with a standard sporter 24" fluted barrel, sub MOA at 200 yds with 165 grain Nosler ballistic tips and IMR4350.

Ain't nuttin relly wrong with 1.5-2.5 inch groups for a huntin riffle. A new barrel will run you $300+ and installation by a smith bout $200, Have a gunsmith look it over and give you an opinion before you spend many $$$.
There certainly is for a long range rifle. That 2.5" becomes 2.5' at 1000yds.

Rock Creek barrels have always treated me really well. Seem to be a little faster than "factory" so I can run a shorter barrel and still keep velocity up. Zero copper fouling and seems to shoot the same hot/cold/wet/dirty/clean. If you're planning on sub 300 yard shots, you can go pretty short with a barrel. Short = stiff and stiff = less whip. My stubby barreled guns always seem to be super easy to load for.

I second this. And Rock Creek makes a Remington sporter contour barrel.

When you get the urge to reach out, first thing you know you will be wanting to reach out a little further.
Id be considering what cartridge more than what barrel. Id probably keep the 06 and get another gun.

Thought I would share one of the oldest secrets...
Hart barrels shoot the lights out!

I have a mountain 30-06 which shoots .50 groups with either varget or 4895 and 150 gr nosler BT's. Try that before re-barreling.

I just had a 300 RUM rebarreled by Pac-Nor in Oregon. the customer was so dang happy with the barrel that he came in and told me that the gun was keeping 1/2 MOA with factory 180 grain loads. As for calibers out to 300 yards with a long action and standard bolt face.. my deer calibers are these 25-06, 270 Win, 6.5-06, 280 Rem/AI, and 338-06 A-square. personal preference is 25-06 and 270 win. I have not met a deer that has not gone down immediately with either the 100 to 115 grain 25-06 or the 110 through 130 grain 270. most of my shots have been at 200 yards and farther out. the longest for the 25-06 was 409 yards, and the 270 had a 620+ yard shot. I am using Barnes X and Nosler ballistic tips.

I already own a light varmint contour savage 110 in 7remmeg with a criterion barrel and a trigger job with 1.5lb trigger. That rifle shoots sub .5MOA (assuming I do my part) with my reloads. That is the rifle I take with me for my long range hunts, which where I live is maxed out at 500 yards. 90% of the time I'm hunting in areas where 200 yards is the furthest I can shoot which is why I no longer want to own heavy weight rifles. Ill keep my one savage I just spoke about but all my rifles moving forward will be lighter weight, sporter to magnum sporter profile barrels. This Remington Mountain is a decent rifle. It has a good stock and a good trigger (Timney). it deserves a barrel which will produce sub MOA accuracy to 300 yards was my thought and I do not mind spending a little to get it versus sell it to someone else and pass along my problem.

Used nothing but Kriegers for years, but they take too long to get. So I've used bartlein, Lilga, and a few others. Finally decided on Mcgowen. Made in my home state of Montana. They are some of the best I've ever used with a great turn around time after ordering. The last one was less than 4 weeks and I get a FFl discount. Very accurate, clean really good with few patches. And around 225 bucks depending on how custom you chose to go
