The stand that has hogs, try one of my dad's baits.
Take a 5 gal. bucket with a tight fitting lid. Fill it abou 3/4 full with untreated corn. The
store bought "Deer Corn, Not for human consumption" works good. Put some beer in it,
I use dark or the strongest that somebody leaves that I don't like. I like to put enough to
bring it to the top of the corn. It doesn't have to be real fresh, open overnight is fine.
What you are after is the yeast. I sometimes add packs of yeast from the store and
sometimes I have added some sugar. Seal the bucket and set it where sun can get on it
most of the day. Let it sit a week or so. When you open it you basically have corn mash.
I'm pretty sure you know what that is. Infact if you know one of the 'ol boys, you might
ask for his used up mash. Put that out for bait. If there's any hogs down wind they will
be there soon. I try to put mine out when the breeze is blowing toward the swamp.
Try it, You'll like it ! Good luck, Paul P.S. I've went through there about 10 yrs. ago. Sounds like it's really grown since then too.
