LaRue Predator, 18" BBL W/ Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56 . Also sent him several sites where he can get one.

I suggested a new rifle, rather than used, and that we would help him break it in and Zero....Want to get him shooting....LOL

If we actually do go hunting for Hogs, will most likely be over Iron sights, but I can always use another Night Force scope! Will try and get him "up close and Personal" with some Hogs....ROFL.

OH, and for those that bought the Mexican sombreros for Cinco De Mayo, thanks....Sold alll but 4 and donated those to the Goodwill! Special thanks to Pedro and Hernandez for your bulk orders.

Before I can shoot the rifle, need to get possession. Fired a Barrett .50 once several years ago and it didn't bother me. Just picked it back up and walked the quarter mile back to the firing line.

OK, time to get serious again

Been a long time member of Gold Prospectors Association of America (GPAA) and joined back when grand kids were little to take them out and enjoy the outdoors with a kind of constructive effort and even got a little gold. Was a chance to take little kids and have them enjoy the outdoors and teach them something about minerals, etc. We had a lot of fun and most of them and their families are now members also.

Anyway, got a call from a friend in the organization in Idaho, where we used to go and found that the U.S. Forestry Service is Blocking, Gating and Posting access roads to major portions of the Public lands. Including in some instances, working Mining claims and even access roads to Private land, which is illegal!

What does this have to do with Hog hunting? Well maybe not so much just Hog hunting, but ALL hunting. The majority of public lands are West of the Mississippi river and I see that a major portion of the members that fill out the Polls initiated by Len Backus are from West of the Mississippi river. Something like 2/3rds of us are out West.

Anyway, the next time you want to go to your favorite hunting area, you may have to walk in the last 20 - 25 miles to hunt that area. The fact that the U.S. Forestry Service is CUSTODIANS of that land, not the owners seems to slip by them.

There is an organization fighting this practice and it's called Public Lands for the People and advocates that the public lands are open for all uses, not just Governmental selected uses such as Bird watching and Butterfly collecting. Their Website is:

Go check it out, they're fighting part of our fight for us and could use our support!

I know at the present time this organization is dedicated to primarily recreational mining at this time, but they would like to affiliate with other types, ie, hunters, fishermen, campers, etc. but they really don't know how to approach other organizations.

BTW, ALL of the people involved are volunteers, there are no professional office holders working for the organization itself. All funds raised go to support legal efforts to block government abuses.

Sort of strength in numbers.

Well, just got back from the range and kind of expected djones to show up before now, but he's probably out trying to get some hogs after my post in "Where in Texas". Maybe we'll see him in the near future, maybe not, but you got to remember the old saying "It's not over til the fat hunter sings".

Jeeez, I hope his voice is better than his eyesight, and i'm the one that is getting the eye surgery!

He'll probably come back with "The last Farewell"which would be somewhat appropriate if he didn't get some Hogs!

Hey, has anyone out there ever fired one of these? May be the first good use of the .223 round I've found except for training purposes. Can't be any worse recoil than the .44 and probably less.

I've not tried that one, but I've got a couple AR-15 pistols. I've got en EOTECH on one of them, and I use it for hog hunting in a few tigh spots and for home defense. Acceptable accuracy at least to 100 yards. Very fun for close range plinking.
