loaded up some 168gr amax. looks like i'll go with a little over 43gr of varget. i've heard the superperformance is not recommend for ARs. if that's what you're shooting, you might want to look into that.


i put a day scope on the AR to test groups. had a mounting screw come loose on the thermal when i put it back on, so went with the backup gun... 223 with the night scope.


hit the sow with the stripers in the neck but she took off. hit her two more times but alas the 223 aint no 308, and she is probably tits up now in parts unknown.

the juvies looked like they were orphans and didn't know any better than to allow me into striking distance. they were small enuf that the stubble made for decent cover and i only got two.

this pig was looking at me and i thought it was going to run, so i chanced a shot between the eyes. 223 did the job, but the 308 would have blown the eyeballs out.

it was well past the middle of the night and the wind still hadn't let up. 20mph offers great noise cover for stalking in the stalks. i maneuvered close enough to drill him in the earhole.

actually, the wind blew hard all night. maybe that and the 27 degree temps were responsible for bringing out the big boars. they just kept coming. i didn't get out until dawn, when the night vision began struggling. i'm sure there were more, but i was out of energy drinks and i'm just not what i used to be. none the less, i did put a hurt on three more good ones.

as you know, i kid a lot... well... all the time. the guy that called me out may be full of it, but he did get me thinking. do i come across as a braggart? i just like seeing and sharing hog kill pics and having some fun while doing it. but he may be on to something. heck, even packratt has abandoned us. i'd appreciate an honest second opinion.

Djones you just make freind everywhere you post. But man that guy shouldn't even bring up shooting next to you. I mean dam you know as well as I do I love my .223 for hogs and have killed more with that than any other. But to say I could sit next to you with a .308 is crazy. That guy probably has never shot a .223 at any real distance at anything with any kind of wind. Lol I always say bullet selection is just as important as placement but come on son. .223 vs .308. Not to mention he thinks he can shoot with you. Lol I'm good but always impressed by you. I'd shoot way away from you so I don't look bad.

wud b fun to carry the 223 thing farther. if it was his thread i mite. check out the next page over there. lots of bickering thruout that forum but i think this is the first time ive been involved. and all because i contributed some humor and pics. i dont get it.

If he was that good he would know that you can't shoot 200 300 yards at moving pigs with a .223 and have the same results as a .308. I did check out the second page. Isn't it the same guy calling you a liar saying he would sit next to you. Seems one person at least stuck up for you.

I just read it again and I pretty sure he was the one. Besides why even ask if he knew the you have been at it for a long time. I shouldn't even stick up for you anyway. I'm sitting here. I'll look into the Superformance use on AR's. My primary hog rig of late has been my R700 5R in .308. I'll try to post a photo later this week.

I was thinking of the using the Superformance in my Armalite AR-10, but I'll research it before using in it. May have to stick to the Barnes TTSX in it.

rost is the guy wanting to shoot along side me. he's just giving back what i dished out. not sure, but i think he may be one of the guys who would hand me my own rear end in a shooting contest. i would, however, like to have a pile of pigs twice as big as what i would have killed alone!

rio is the guy that said i lied when i said i had only been hunting a couple months. sarcasm isn't that easy for some to pick up on in text. but yea, apparently he stalked me over here and already had his mind made up. heck, he could have figured that out just from my posts over there.

and to get all riled up over jabs at the 223... well that's just ignorant. making fun of the 223 is my trademark. the dpms get just as many pokes over there and i got to where i liked the banter.

i actually joined here in 2011. been a member there since 2008 so no need to punch me in the throat.
