Hornady ELD-X Official Thread

I haven't seen that in mine, but its always a good idea. The biggest issue i have seen is the ELDX tend to be oversize which seems to be more of a problem. I think the amax has at least as long a bearing surface. I would DEFINITELY recommend checking the eldx for diameter as a couple tenths can raise pressures considerably.
Good point on always starting low though........Rich
No kidding. Is this happening with .30 cal bullets? They actually make both .308 and .310's so I wonder if somewhere they could be getting mixed of if someone might have a setting off?

Anyone having that issue should contact them and send the oversized bullets back for them to look at so they can trace it down.

Nothing will hurt you faster like an unexpected overpressure and with the "normal" pressures a lot of us work at all the time pushing loads, an oversized bullet could push it way, way beyond what is safe and could blow a lightweight barrel.

It has been happening in the 264's quite a bit (me included) and I have heard of some others too. Mine, and one buddies, measured .2642-3, and I heard of one gunsmith who built a Sherman that had some measure .2645!! He thought the bullet was hitting the lands since it couldn't clear the throat. Thought I sent him the wrong reamer. Even at .0002" over, it can, and did, cause serious pressure in mine. My SS was ok but the Sherman had a tight throat to begin with.....Rich

Thought some of you would be interested in this.
So far I liked the ELD-x for accuracy

Here's my 6.5 WSM at .015" off the lands with the 143 ELD-X at 3200 fps.

Middle group is a 5 shot group with my Remington 700 308 with a factory barrel in a manners t6-a with the mini chassis shooting the 308 precision hunter factory loads. Was very happy! I usually shoot the 168 amax and poi at 100 was almost the same!

Hi guys! I am brand new here and just wanted to share my findings with the Eld-X. I am by no means an expert or professional just a guy trying his best to do things right. I am shooting a Sako 85 Finnlite 7mm Rem Mag my best load so far is 68.5 grains(Hornadys Max charge) of H-1000 in Norma cases WLRM primers 162 eld-x seated .012 off the lands. This is my personal best... so far. Target was shot at 200 yards, prone on bags. The first 4 are fouled cold bore and are the group, the 5th was a flyer (my fault) it probably would have been with the others if it weren't for human error.

That bites us all from time to time.

I wanted to check a rifle last night before heading out to finish up evening chores, set a target out at a hundred and put three rounds in a dime sized hole, one just outside of it and the other a good 2" off because I just couldn't get steady.

On the way out however I came up on a herd of 9 pigs and managed to kill seven of them before they could make it out of the wheatfield with the last two still running and being killed well outside of 400yds.

Sometimes I just hate shooting paper!
