Thanks for all the replies guys there is lots of good info in this site! I was kinda wanting a 7lrm as it looks like a good cal on paper for velocity and efficiency and accuracy.I have a nice 7rem mag and a 28 nosler so I don't want to build another one in that cal right now. What is wrong with the 7lrm brass is it availability, consistency or price? I have a good gunsmith corlanes here close to home so I could go full custom also. What do you guys prefer between gunwerks and Christensen?

I've had the top end gunwerks and handled the Christensen you'll get a better rifle in the long run for much less with a reputable local Smith and you can hand pick all the parts you want! Gunwerks rifles not worth the price period!

Thanks for the reply. I don't really want another 28 nosler as I have one and a 7mm rem mag also you could say I like the .284s!

Then go with the STW or 7mm-300wm. Another perhaps even better option would be to go to a straight 7mm-375 Ruger without the LRM's long neck and shoulder which makes forming your own brass a very expensive problem hence locking you into their proprietary brass.

As much as I like the performance I'm getting out of my 6.5LRM it's a huge PITA and at some point I'll turn it into a straight 6.5-375 Ruger with the shorter neck, sharper shoulder angle and more case capacity.

I'd be able then to make my own brass quite simply by using a 2-3 step process using only necking dies.

Quite a few guys did this when the case first came out and were getting outstanding results. It would be even easier to do with a 7mm.

Since you already have a 7rm and 28 Nosler, your basically looking for something to waste your money on. Then the 7lrm would be a good choice.

Thanks for the useful opinion it sounds like something my wife would say lol. I have wasted my money on some stupid things before but I never consider a nice rifle a waste

This is just my opinion For the price of Gunwerks you could build 2 full customs. Granted they come with glass but 13k+tax for a gun and glass!! I better get a hunt included for that price. Even if you opt out of glass $7500 plus tax ?? There guns are not that good your way over paying for just a name.
Christensen summit very nice I owned one but the same thing brand new price is outrageous. I can have better built for less or the same money and get exactly what I want!
Lone peak TI
Carbon barrel of choice
Lightweight stock of choice
+ work done by RMR = %100 better than GW

And in the end if you have issues walk down the street to RMR and chat in person!witch I doubt you will.
Mass produced = lemons = unhappy shooter ( not all are lemons but it could happen lots of lemon stories on both)!
Again just my 2 cents. Anyway let's keep our Canadian smiths working.

I'm not bashing the rifle. I own two. Your choice of chambering is what I'm bashing, based on my experience with it and others I personally know who have had the same issues with theirs. Just trying to give you some good advice from experience. What you want to do is you business. Good luck!

I have a 7lmr. It was not built by gunwerks. I purchased the rifle used. The person who had it built called gunwerks and ordered the same parts as they use and had his Smith put it together. (At least this is what I was told). He did purchase brass and I believe the dies from gunwerks. Personally I really like the rifle. Probably the best shooting rifle I own. I was not aware of the brass issue when I purchased the rifle as I got quite a bit of brass when I purchased the rifle. There are probably better choices out there but as well as the rifle shoots I have no plans of changing it for now. Maybe when I run out of brass I will reconsider. I agree, you never waste money when purchasing a fire arm. Good luck with your decision. Shoot safe and have fun.

Gunwerks LR1000 7LRM and don't look back. It is by far my favorite custom I have. I just bought 200 pcs. of brass from them 2 weeks ago. If you want some more info send me a message I would be happy tell you what I have and like about the rifle. My experiences (new builds and rebarrel) with Gunwerks have been great. If you got this route make sure you let them know what bullet you intend to shoot and they will "fine tune" the rifle for that bullet.

I personally think they are overpriced. And boy have I paid for some rifles. I can only give advice on my light weight rifle. I had pierce engineering do a Ti action, Ti bolt, and recoil lug. Proof carbon barrel and eh5 thumbhole stock. The complete build was around $4,000 us. The gun scopes out is just over 6.5 lbs. and shoots great. Would be another option for an action and have you smith build you one. I've over spent on rifles before and I am more than happy with them but at the end of the day it's hard to swallow several thousand dollars extra. It's very tough when you set next to someone at the range with a custom that cost half as much and shoots just as good or better.

I am in canada as well, a Peirce TI action or lone peak fusion, hardy or proof barrel, trigger tech trigger, bottom metal of your choice with a manners stock will work out to less than the price of a GW, proof or christensen summit. Personally I would go that way and pick a smith with a good rep. I would also have a good look at the fierce rifles, reputation for great accuracy from them.
I would think about doing one of the sherman cases maybe a sherman short in 7mm. Bighorn sales is starting to import the brass and dies for the shermans. If you have a couple 284's why not go to something different?
