7mm sherman max

ADG brass:
saum 74
*SS 74
Max 77.4
**MEGA 84
*most efficient
**best velocity
So if a bullet isn't chewing into powder space on the 7SAUM, it should run a heavy bullet about like the SS if it's in a medium action like a Tikka.

It also makes the case to jump up to the MAX or MEGA if you have the COAL to do so. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Max currently has headstamped fully fire formed brass, and the MEGA is coming soon?

SS is a little faster than a saum, but not too much in a longer action. Yes, the Max is here and MEGA in January

Went and did pressure testing for N565 and 180's today.
60 gr 2772
61 gr 2855
62 gr 2904
63 gr 2943
64 gr 3030 slight ejector mark
65 gr 3065 ejector mark
66 gr 3108 sticky bolt

Only shots 56-61 but **** ……do I have a slow barrel??

Virginia brass, the extra energy to form it to your chamber may be slowing it down some, also if you actually have a fast barrel, you could end up with a higher powder charge and a little more velocity before pressure. I bet you will be in the same ballpark, just my thoughts.

Not giving up yet…… still have to get the rest of this box through and get 100 firings on this barrel. Even though it's vagina brass, it was the fully formed stuff already but I still like to fire it to mirror chamber. Doubt it'd loose much velocity but who knows. Experience was the same with 570. 69.8g of 570 averaged low about 2830.

I think Ive discovered your problem:
You've tried Virginia brass and vagina brass with no luck.
try some Sherman (ADG)😁

Seriously though, those velocities are REALLY low! I can't remember if you stated this already and don't have time to research but.....
what is your barrel length?
what chrono are you using?
How was your pressure with top loads?

Barrel close to 26"
Used labradar this last go but also used magneto with the 570 loads
No pressure to speak of….. 570 was not quite 70g topped out at around 2830 avg.

Wondering if any 7 Max shooters have tried the PVA 151 grain Cayuga? If so, what you found for accuracy, seating depth and other load data, etc. Have some on the way……

With the 20" barrel I have, the 170 is around 3000 @ initial signs of pressure using N565, a load easy on brass would be 2900ish or a little more.

The 7 mag I loaded may have been a fast barrel, I have only loaded the 151's in this one 7 mag, but it is 24" and using RL26 is running 3390, and is over a full grain below pressure signs.
