6.5 PRC Reloading

something like this:

6.5x55 Swede/Kelbly Atlas Tactical/26" Brux Sendero/Bix'n Andy Tacsport/Swarovski X5i 5x25x56P MOA
6.5 Creedmoor/Pierce Engineering Ultralight Titanium/21" Christensen Arms Carbon/Timney/Leupold VX6HD 3-18x44 MOA
28 Nosler/Kelbly Atlas Tactical/26" Proof/Bix'n Andy Tacsport/Swarovski X5i 5x25x56P MOA

all you state is "My barrel", "my rifle" inquiring minds need to know;)
Those are some sweet specs

Ha Ha !!!!! I stole your info PR

MountainCarver, I'm so glad to hear your C.A. is shooting well. I get tired of people bashing the Christensen rifles

if there is a reason to bash them, I wouldn't know any better anyway. I just bought it because I like to hunt the high country and liked the idea of a light weight rifle to fold up and strap down. didn't feel I could build one for any cheaper for what I do. in all honesty my 223 vanguard, a custom budget build 300 RUM, tika 6.5 creed, 280 a bolt, all have shot well with some reloading work. this prc seems to shoot everything at least MOA and repeatable .6 moa with some work, .3 moa on a good day.

Wow, h4831 proves to hold the tightest groups and most consistant velocity with the 147s. Wasnt expecting that. Very repeatable day after day. A little sticky when it gets cold but on warm day, pressure signs go away. Opposite what i had thought. Anyway, settled in at 3060.

How many grains you running of H4831?

Very nice. What's your OAL with the 147s? I may have to try some H4831 in my MPR.

44.2 grains h4831 with the 147s. OAL from the tip is 2.970. this is .018 off. im going to push it back a little more as I only have about .005 room left for mag and ive seen variances in bullet lengths out of the same box be this much. .3 grains of powder more than this will get sticky in my gun and I have tried .6 more. no gains in vel.

Interesting responses...I'm looking at a rebarrel to get into a 6.5 PRC and this is good helpful info. Tell me, is the 1:8 twist the best choice for a hunting rifle? Mine will have a magazine length out to 3.34" plus, so pointers on where to go with COAL and chambering would also be helpful. For now lets say I'll plan on using both Hornady 143 ELD-X and Nosler 142 LRAB for hunting, and definitely hope for 3k-3100 velocity from a 26" tube. Nosler 129 LRAB is also a choice to consider for PH antelope and deer.

If you're at all interested in the really heavies (150smk or 156 eol) or all copper heavier bullets like 137 Hammer I would look at a 1:7.

Otherwise 1:8
