This is whats wrong with hunting today

He didn't mention drift. That 22 is gonna get pushed around pretty good in the wind. I look at it like this. If I can push a 140 grain bullet in a 7 mag the same velocity with a similar bc it's a no brainer. Or a 160 a little slower but with a higher bc. Less drift and more energy down range.
The video may be cringy, but what you said is objectively false. The diameter and weight of a bullet has literally nothing whatsoever to do with wind drift. Most 7 mags don't have the twist rate to shoot a comparable BC bullet as the 22 creed normally does and it shoots those heavier ones slower than the 22 creed shoots it's heavy for caliber, so objectively, the 22 creed, using optimum bullets will always have less wind drift than a 7 mag.
Time of flight. It's the only variable you can control in the wind drift equation.

22creedmoor is not a long distance big game cartridge but the internet snipers will crunch the numbers and say that's the case. New hunters will read something or watch some videos and go out and buy a rifle chambered as such and start punching 22cal holes in animals in states where there aren't caliber restrictions. States like my beloved Texas! Can a 22 creedmoor kill a south Texas whitetail with a shot in the vitals at 200yds.....absolutely! The 22-250, 224TTH, 220swift and similar have been doing it for decades with lower BC bullets. But one Johnson grass stalk or mesquite twig or strand of barbed wire in between the muzzle and vitals and all bets are off.
A 300gr 375 bullet also deflects to the point that you'd not expect an impact much past the brush it hit. Nothing is a brush gun. Nothing is accurate after glancing basically anything. This has been proven time and time again. 750gr from a 50bmg tumbles after it hits a twig.

The thread title NAILS it! Literally everything wrong with hunting today is in full form in this thread, problem is, I think the guy in the video is the least of the issue. I can't believe the level of woke cancel culture crap dripping from this forum anymore! Fudds find a video of him poaching, COMPLETELY disregard the fact around the issue when both sides are presented.
Some can't make it 5 seconds and their out, the first few minutes was about having a quality rifle built by a quality builder.
I'll grant he's a little challenged when it comes to getting all his ballistics all right but he's obviously just starting to learn and picking stuff up.
He then smokes a bear with a perfect shot, shows some of the bullet performance, which looked like it wrecked it up rather well.
This really seems like Fudds canceling other hunters while wondering what's wrong with hunting, YOUR what's wrong!!

On a forum called Long Range Hunting no less, smoking the heck out of a bear in the 4 hundy range with a high performance 22 cal is going to get your panties bunched, many of you would have turned inside out at past discussions if this is all it took. On top of that this is just your form of getting clicks so your all not really that different, maybe we should be more worried about the future of hunting and how our game is being managed rather than trying to be forum famous with threads like this!

Most think a brush gun is a caliber that can push past twigs and branches with accuracy. Really? Not. A brush gun is a gun that can be handled easily in brush and brought to bear quickly and discharged accurately. Sometimes even keeping you alive! Granted some have tried.

LMAO. I feel like I just got yelled at by one of my millennial children. Yeah, we did go hard on the goof ball but he deserved it for the cheap feel his video projected. I'm a little reluctant to bash the actual 22 man bun. The numbers don't lie. The 90grain qtip, I mean a-tip , running 3200fps is good on deer, humans, etc. Out to 600+/-. That's about all I'D be comfortable with. But, that's also where long range hunting distance begins in the opinion of most here.

I used to scoff at metric cars being souped up until I saw a honda civic blow out a hell cat. Now we have electric cars blowing porche's in the 0-60. It's all pretty amazing. It's hard to beat the feel of big gas guzzling horsepower though.

Thanks for disciplining us older fellers; we're just not too quick to accept the light, bright and airy, especially given the cheap, if not fake, delivery. It took me some time and about six episodes of Trailer Park Boys before I became a fan.

Give us some time and a few more episodes of proof before we start accepting. Accepting the 22 creedmoor and the like, not the dude. We'll never accept the dude... Kidding, you little softie, gosh

Go back to school, junior. Specifically, when making an argument, learn which word to use in the right context. Here's a free lesson from someone senior. You should have used "you are," or "you're wrong." All caps if you prefer.

Seriously, that's all you have, unbelievably weak! I'm old enough to remember a time when this forum was not Fudd central or ran the hunting community down. Nothing in that video was worth running another hunter through the wringer, shooting a high performance 22 cal for hunting, we've been doing that for years on this forum but until someone does it with a creedmore on YouTube it's not an issue.
He built a quality rifle, picked excellent components had an excellent gunsmith put it together, he basically did what we've done for 20 years.
Where did he go wrong, he set up a rifle he could shoot well and obviously be effective with, it's clearly capable of blowing a hole through a bear, what more is required.
Is his ballistic knowledge a little shaky, sure but clearly a good percentage of this thread isn't much better so that seems like just a matter of learning, not worth running a guy through over.

I think most are here to do good, offer sound support and advice to the members about the sport and outdoors we love and live for. We all make mistakes at times, may have a lapse in judgment, have different opinions or a complete opposite direction on certain things. Maybe before making judgement on a person and calling him a DB dig a little deeper and read some about things the company he represents and the person behind the wheel. I don't agree with everything and I can't stand most social media and prefer to read about things. Here's something to read about the same man in the YouTube video.

With all due respect, I think you missed the point of this entire thing. And when i say that, its clear you're focusing on things from the video that aren't the topic of the thread, and that's fine because others have done the same. I mean no insult I'm just simply stating what's happened.
The point is the guy is presenting the facts like a jack wagon. It really makes no matter what kind of shooting system or the gunsmith who built it is. That's essentially irrelevant. Sure the dude has a finely built weapon system but really? I don't see how you can watch the video and defend anything about it. It's biased, incomplete and plain ignorant. The dude knows exactly what he's doing and if for come chance he doesn't than even more bad on him for misleading the public with improper and incomplete information. That is the point of the thread.

So why are F class guys not shooting 22's? Because 22's do not have as good a bc as a heavy 7mm.

Proof is in the pudding, he blowing holes through game, what more is honestly required than it works?
If I were taking a guy out to kill an elk, I'd much rather a guy show up with a 22 Creedmore he shot the heck out of because he enjoys shooting it than a guy with a 300 WBY that barely got it sighted in. I've seen a lot of mule deer and elk killed by kids with a 223 and a partition, why do we have kids do that, because they shoot it well which is most important!
I've shot antelope and whitetail out just over 600 yards with a 22-250 and 52 gr vmaxs or Bergers, the vmaxs soup their lungs, the Berger blows a hole right through them with excellent damage. I have no doubt a 80+ gr 22 cal bullet is going to wreck stuff, watching how flat that trace was on that bear he shot and the damage I'd say it's money!!
I've never needed 1500 ft lbs to kill anything, done a lot of clean, single round killing with 600 ft lbs, if you match your components it's amazing how little it take to kill even elk.
Each generation will have a different take, they will go through fazes or fads, just like we did. I just don't see any net gain by creating a frenzy over another hunter which started guys into digging up what they think are gotcha skeletons, fact is these younger guys are still apart of the hunting community and maybe gently reaching out and guiding will further the community. It's amazing how many will take you up on advice or the invitation to come shoot where you influencing the influencer not turning this next generation against the older!!

Again, you're missing the point man. Although I don't agree with a lot of your sentiment I respect it. It's not about the 22 Creedmoor. Although a hand full of us want to keep making it about that.
