Why shoot a sissy rifle?

I think that RL26 has helped the Creedmoor gain some performance advantage. I did just help a buddy with a 280ai and it picked up 235fps over his normal load by using RL26. It is in line with a 7PRC on speed now.
I'd think that would be way too slow for the 6.5 creedmoor and now after hearing multiple reports about it being excellent it's nowhere to be found.

I was fortunate and got 5-8 pounders back in the day. We did a little load development in the 7PRC but it didn't react well in this rifle. My 300PRC runs the 230 ATip at 3010FPS with RL26. It does however kick a little harder than the Creedmoors!!lol Again, the 6.5Creedmoor just seems to really like RL26.

Well...I guess show us your beard.

Wow, following this thread is quite the adventure. My thoughts on this, like many (probably most) on this site own many, many, many firearms. I did not buy a large enough safe the first time so now I have 3 safes. I prefer to select the best cartridge for the task at hand. For example:
I remember a song that went something like this: Oh give me a home where the Buffalo roam (45-70) where the deer (30-06) and the antelope (6.5 CM) play. Where occasionally is seen an Elk (300 PRC) and bunnies (22LR) and Quail (20 GA) and a few coyotes (223) enter the mix.
It's very exciting to have many choices in calibers and game that there may be a place for most situations. However, unless starfleet command starts selling phasers there is no one does all weapon.

I dunno. Lotta people say and believe things that gun writers never actually said. Some folks are just innocent of ballistic science and hype themselves up. Sure when the Creed was a new thing, lots of writers wrote and reviewed. Creates buzz...and some folks simply run with the buzz over objectivity. I don't run away from or hate something just because of buzz. If you do a lot of shooting, the Creed is a nice fit. Reason a lot of shooting schools use them. Not too many using 270's... Each has their place. Don't know that we need to go out of our way to try to make one better than the other. Sometimes the effort to defend and prop up our position can reflect some emotional bias that works against objective observation.
Shooting schools use the 6.5 Creedmoor because of its lighter recoil and the fact they are shooting either paper or steel at longer ranges, exactly where the 6.5 excels.
