Whats the cartridge you LOVE to HATE?

WHY??? Years ago I hunted with a guy that had one and was extremely impressed with its results and, since then, talking with various hunters who have had one had nothing but praise for it. Not once did I ever hear of someone who disliked it let alone hated it.

I have never had

the opportunity to shoot a 460 , But I have heard they are brutal, no thanks !!

A buddy and I were at a local range when we were 18 or 19. This guy had a bunch of Weatherby's. A 460, 378, 340 and a 300. he asked us if we wanted to shoot them. Heck ya ! I shot the 460 first . WOW ! Then the 378 WOW ! Didn't notice much difference... Then 340 the 300. my buddy started with the 300 then 340 then 378. He didn't want to shoot the 460 after that . Lol !

Lol…. I dont really know, I had one and it just always irritated the Sh#t out of me. Never could get over it, and sold the gun. I guess we just didn't get along…

You probably wouldn't notice if shooting an elephant or Cape buffalo, etc. but I imagine shooting at the range a few times is more than enough. I still have one each of the cases the gentleman let me keep. He was a fairly small guy too !

Anything Tikka and hammer boutique bullets. Just buy the SAKO 85, and be done with it, especially if you plan to put a Night Force scope on it and shoot boutique bullets.
Don't care much for 24 caliber and 338 caliber rigs...very niche. With all that said, I never met a rifle that I wouldn't put in my gun safe for the right price. Maybe that's why I have two 40-gun safes with no room left in 'em!

Anything weatherby, the ammo is too expensive and the freebore in the rifles just is not necessary. I am intrigued by some of them, but there is a cartridge that is as good and better priced with every caliber.

I have a 460. It ain't so bad once you learn how to handle one.

The only advice I can give is don't shoot it off the bench.

I know people will not like this , but my choice is the 338 win mag , only because of the recoil, I have owned and shot 458 Winchester and 375 H&H magnums and they just push you , The 338 Winchester SLAMS YOU , The older I get the less recoil I like , It is a great round but I don't like it's recoil !!

I have used the 338 WM extensively and it does kick differently than a 375 H&H but that is a simple matter of physics. Recoil FT-LBS, gun weight, and stock design all contribute to perceived recoil. I once had a light weight .270 I could not stand shooting. My friend loved it and quickly became the next owner. Shooting big guns is like dancing; you have to practice well, to be good at it.
