I know people will not like this , but my choice is the 338 win mag , only because of the recoil, I have owned and shot 458 Winchester and 375 H&H magnums and they just push you , The 338 Winchester SLAMS YOU , The older I get the less recoil I like , It is a great round but I don't like it's recoil !!

WHY??? Years ago I hunted with a guy that had one and was extremely impressed with its results and, since then, talking with various hunters who have had one had nothing but praise for it. Not once did I ever hear of someone who disliked it let alone hated it.

The Bob should be what the 243 isload 100 grainers in it and you have a 6mm or. 243. I have all 3, but the 257 is one of the best ladies/youth cartridge out there IMO regardless of the Needmores

Honestly the weight and fit of the rifle matter way more than the cartridge up to a point. My .358 Norma is a heavier rifle that just feels natural when you shoulder it.

My dad, who is 73, five foot eight, and 150 pounds soaking wet, had never shot anything that powerful and was expecting punishment. After firing he actually looked at me bewildered and asked

"Is that it?"

The Remington pump .30-06 I got my first deer with as a scrawny 13 year old beat the out of me in comparison.

I have 13 760/7600's and they aren't soft kickers. From 243 to 35 Whelen

I will die on this hill, M1 Garand in hand, laughing because as long as I can keep the little 308 boys at least 700 yards away the magic anti-308 force field will protect me.

If a genie told me the trade off for making the 308 Win disappear from the world would be having to shove a 6.5 Creedmoor up my own arse every morning I would make that sacrifice for the sake of humanity. I would ask for one caveat of being able to shoot lightning bolts out of said arse, because isn't a 6.5 CM basically a lightning bolt?

This particular .460 WBY was owned by movie star William Holden. My brother bought it at an auction. We wrote to him and he provided a letter with what African game he took with the rifle. I say he must've been a hardy individual like the heroes he portrays in the movies, because when I shot it it gave me a headache! It was EDM barrel ported too.

Interestingly, I shoot a .378 Wby with a 270gr Barnes TSX over 118gr RL22, and the recoil from it is also mighty, but not nearly as punishing. It has a factory muzzle brake on it. I've taken all kinds of North American game with it for more than 35 years now. When walking into a hunting camp, I could count on the other guys saying "Jesus, what are you gonna shoot with that?" I always answered "Pretty much anything I want to."

This is funny but I came form the Orthopedic Trauma Industry. There are numerous devices that can be used to Fix a variety of Long Bone fractures, in different bones. Depending on the surgeon using the device, some worked better that others. The end came is to align and reduce the fracture so the bone would heal, as close to normal as possible. So to some degree they all work ,but endless papers and discussion as to whether to use a Plate or use an IM Rod inside the bone. How long a plate, how many holes in the plate . How long a nail, the Diameter of the nail. ect. ect. ect. So What's Better??? What's Great ?? What do the surgeons in the Trauma centers use?? So I love this thread because in the right hands , so many cartridges we think are "Not Great " , will have a following of guys who will jump up and say Hey I killed a dozen deer with that cartridge in the 50's or 60 's. So ,IMHO, there are none I hate. There are 1000 would not personally ever want , or need, but I do respect the hunter /shooter who thinks his Model 94 in 32 Win Special if the Perfect Rifle cartridge combo. Who am I to tell him his baby is ugly?? I just read an article where a well know gun writer was Hunting with a customized rifle in .303. Why????? He must have 5 rifles each in 270 Win 280, 308 and 30 06, 7 mag and 300 Win mag . Why on earth would you be hunting Deer with a .303, if you didn't really have too??? The answer is, He felt like it, He likes the Round, and he enjoyed it. What's the sense of arguing better Ballistics, More Energy, Higher Bullet BC ,SD of the bullet, ect??? I learned new Quote last week Boys. It said :" Never Miss an Opportunity to Shut Up". I am trying to keep that in mind. LOL!!!!!

Lapua. Specifically 338 Lapua. Something about the way the word rolls across my tongue just grates my nerves, like finger nails on a chalk board! Way back,when 338 Lepooahh brass was 5$ each, and extremely hard to get. In reality, it's a decent round, I guess.... I just got sick of the fan boy jism . Bestest mostest fastest ... I got a Laapooooahhhh! I couldn't take it! Yuk!

Remington EtronX ammo and guns, both dead on arival!......and any Winchester Super Short Magnums. great ideas, short on real improvement in performance, super hard to find ammo, super expensive ammo, and one other reason, they needed to be in super short actions to make any real sense to me.

I think an electronic trigger would be the cats a☆☆ no springs ect set at 1-lb zero travel or creep......would be awesome
