Semi custom vs factory

I loaded some H4831SC behind some 162 grain ELDM's in a 7PRC I'm currently breaking in and three shots each of 64, 65, and 65.5 were well under 1 MOA at 100. The best was right at .5". I think it likes the 4831, and I'm interested to see how far I can go. 65.5 was absolutely no sign of pressure, easy bolt lift, no ejector marks, and the primers looked great. Hornady says out of a 24" barrel that should be 3050 plus fps, I'm shooting a 22" barrel. When I find the top, I'll go get my chronograph from my buddy who's using it at the present moment.

Gotta love the Hornady imbelishment. I would be impressed.

I put a long throat 284 win Preferred Barrel 22" SS , 8twist T3 contour on a T3X. Swapped the bolt stop and the mag to factory LA Sweet rifle! I put a Stockys carbon fiber stock on it and curved bolt handle and carbon round knob.

SWEET rifle. Highly reccomend something like it for a mtn rifle.

I have 100 Lapua .284 cases that I've been sitting on for a couple years with that very thing in mind! Still working with my .280AI. Which is my first go around with rebarreling and hand loading. I'm getting close to doing it though. I've got my eye on the .750 taperless contour.

284 win is a great round. Many people don't realize the popularity of the 284 win with competition shooters.

You can see that the .284 Winchester (and variants) currently dominate F-Open.

Youre going to love it! The 284 is incredibly efficient. I was running a 150 Badlands BD2 at 2860ish in lapua brass with mid 50s grains of Staball 6.5. I found pressure sign, (very light ejector dot) at mid 2900 n dropped back a grain.

With a 7rem mag, also 22" i ran the same bullet 2950 but it took low mid 60s grains of powder to it and that was the fastest combo I tried that was accurate.

Apples to pear-apples but maybe useful, my 22" 7PRC ran a 150 mono at mid 28s using hodgdons max charge H4831 (not SC)for the 150Etip. I can maybe go another grain, maybe, maybe not. Not many rounds on the barrel yet.

Let us know where it falls when ya get it dialed in.
