Whats the cartridge you LOVE to HATE?

6.8 Western. Why in the world didn't Browning just start making the 270 WSM with 1:8" twist barrels??

.
Lol I've stated this many times on threads
Reinvention of the wheel.....yawn
Why don't they make factory rifles with the options of spin & length, stamp it on the barrel, offer more left handed, easy solution ❗and end the wheel reinvention.
Many don't shoot heavies or want to but others do.

Except when it gets wet! 😉 memtb
Or is -20 in Saskatchewan during whitetail season and in the cold weather my dang battery dies as the buck of a lifetime trots in front of me 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Remington experimented with electric ignition a good while ago (no primer, shorter lock time)

Neat idea for a pure target gun but I got a chuckle imagining either a dead battery in the field OR yelling at the deer to hang on a minute while I clean this dang spark plug!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I really wanted to try one of the remingtons with the electric firing system. I don't recall if they were good or bad but obviously bad.
-20 in Saskatchewan... that's the warm days. Here... I took a photo of the weather forecast.

Here I am laughing in Nipawin, sk…we're at a balmy -16 celcius or 3 Fahrenheit while y'all are apparently cold in Lloyd 🤣🤣🤣

When was that pic from!??? I just couldn't believe that we'd be -16 in Nipawin and you'd be -35 in Lloydminster…and I was right! For once 🤣.

Says Lloyd was exactly -16 last night as well haha…this is not an investigation by the way, just curious when the last time it was that miserable outside was for you guys. Did y'all get hit by that crazy snowstorm over the weekend?

& how many scopes today have batteries in them??? The battery in your truck works @ -20. Planes electronics work at high altitude @ more than -20.
Many good ideas and cartridges have failed, not because they were not good, but by not being accepted or marketed properly. ie, 280 rem, 260 Rem, 6.5 Rem
& look at the 6.5 Needmoor lol

I'll admit I have zero experienc with battery powered optics. But I do recall reading that the Remington system was to use a 9 volt haha. Not the same as a massive lead acid vehicle battery or an airplane, not even remotely comparable.

What's the coldest you've ever gone shooting in? I can tell you from real experience a 9 volt in a chronograph doesn't take long to DIE DIE DIE in -20 to -40 ranges. Neither does the one in your cell phone if you leave it out in your car for an hour or two by mistake.

And give it enough time…if you're not starting your vehicle on a regular basis and it's subject to cold for a long time that battery weakens. And the battery works because it gets recharged by an alternator that ultimately depends on combustion. Dare ya to find out how long your truck battery survives our winter with no alternator (I mean it dies regardless but it dies MUCH faster in this. Also a reason why I'll never own an electric vehicle - they're fine for California. There have been real incidents already in my home province of suckers who bought the stupid things and got stranded in the middle of nowhere (which is most of Saskatchewan 🤣) because, you guessed it, real cold weather KILLS batteries. One lady had to get her car towed in (and rescued from freezing to death at night) when her electric car didn't even make it half the distance it was supposed to be able to.

It's not public stubbornness or bad marketing. It's a bad idea for any rifle that has to work no matter what. Again, fine for target guns. Not for field guns, be it sporting or military. Primers have proven their reliability (tho they are hard to find, I think I need a flintlock)

Oh!!! Your comparison, invalid as I may deem it, nonetheless gives me a great and ridiculous idea (I have lots of them, mostly bad 🤣)

AN ELECTRICALLY FIRED RIFLE….WITH AN ALTERNATOR!!!!!

Attached to the muzzle, instead of a brake or suppressor, we have a big can that contains a turbine that the gas from the muzzle blast spins hard, like a turbocharger, and this is connected to a whole magnet/coil set up like an alternator to generate electrical current which is then used to charge the gun's battery.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

🥴

Oh man @JiggyIi you've actually got me thinking now dang it. That can't be good.

But there's no reason a person couldn't design an electric fired rifle with a little hand crank (you know, like what we used to have to use to open car windows) connected to such an internal alternator device just in case the thing runs out of juice.

We'll market all kinds of aftermarket spark plugs for it. Magnum spark plugs for bigger charges. Ultra magnum super duper Thor God of Thunder mega lightning ionizer spark plugs for big charges in arctic weather…🤪

Sneezing flea spark plugs for benchrest rifles that make such a small spark it in no way affects the internal pressure of the case until powder starts burning….

Gosh I love this forum! 🤣

Go green…..get a small solar array! It won't add that much to all of the stuff that hunters (?) seem to require these days! 😂 memtb

Then a modern day Carlos Hathcock will shoot an enemy sniper…after his location was revealed by the glare from his rifle's solar panels! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Instead of through the scope…

"Shot right through the photovoltaic cell array and into the enemy's eyeball!!!"

I'm feeling silly today, had a 6 shooter for breakfast…that's code for six shots of espresso straight on an empty stomach…
