What is THE Ultimate 30cal Cartridge for ELR/Reloading?

If you could get any powder, primer, brass, bullet, dies, etc. etc. etc....... including action, barrels..... blah blah blah.
Who cares about factory cartridges or easy to find. This is about ELR/Reloading.

What is The Ultimate 30cal Cartridge for ELR and reloading?

By ultimate do you mean fastest with the largest bullet available? I think people have found out unless you have a very long barrel length much past 30/338 lapua the point of diminishing returns starts to rear its ugly head.

I would be intrigued by a 300 Norma Improved or 30-338 Lapua Improved. Seems to be a decent balance of maximizing case volume for the bore, in the largest casehead normally used for it, aligning with the shorter/fatter case efficiency movement that's been trending. Berger 245 would be a good bullet to shoot from it, or one of the 200+gn Lazers from Cutting Edge. Seems like that might get you everything you can from the 30 cal bore.

But at that point why accept the arbitrary limitations of 30 cal?

I have a 30-338 lapua improved and a 300 NMAI and quite honestly when I want to shoot long and consistent I pick up the 338 with 300 Berger's.

I think this would be hard to argue with but agree that the 30 cal is limiting for elr.

Now if you're wanting a sporter weight hunting rig to dabble in elr then you'd be on to something.

Either way, I'd go to a 338.

If I were to build one purpose built ELR rifle in .30 cal it would be the .300 Laupua.

My Rum's though will do all I'll ever need.
