My solution to Magneto Speed

Popeye, that has not been my experience (with sporter rigs), I have see it open up groups by more than a 1/2". I agree, not a big difference with a heavy barrel.

I have never tried it, but I will bet money you could not shoot groups in the .100"s with my best BR rig with the bayo attached without adjusting the load!

One of the things we all try to pay attention to is the harmonics of a barrel by adjusting the load to the individual barrel. There are allot of BR shooters that use barrel tuners out on the end of the barrel to change the harmonics. I don't know of a person shooting any of the Rimfire games not using it a tuner that is competitive.

To say that hanging a Chrono Bayo off the end of the barrel does not affect accuracy defies Physics.

All of this stuff is VooDoo in many ways, but like I said above, I try to eliminate as many variables as I can. Remotely mounting the Bayo is one.

As stated earlier by one the posters, some of the effects may be a pressure waive off the bayo, that is possible. But I don't think it is much as changing the harmonics of the barrel.

I could be trading one set of problems for another, we will see. If I find this does not work, I will be the first one to admit it.

After all, the work we put into making our rifles shoot is just experiments, some work, some don't.

JMHO

I've dialed in loads for elr rifles with the bayo attached and I landed in the same node, different poi always high.
I see way less influence on poi on braked rifles, the worst rifle I've seen for poi change with bayo is my straight taper 308 target rifle without a brake.

There is several working designs for mounting the bayo of the rest, several have made them and even marketed them but they all pooped out.

Bigngreen, I have zero intention of marketing any sort of mount for the Chrono, just doing this for myself and sharing it with others that may want to make something.

If I had any intentions to market something, it would never be shared prior to perfecting and certainly not share prints.

Regarding hitting the same node, I respect your opinion, but that has not been my experience with the MagnoSpeed. You are lucky in my opinion.

I was meaning that if you research you should find several other designs that may aid you with making yours easier to design.

I would love to see you perform that experiment and post your results. Really cool to see with they bayonet attached to your barrel, then on your awesome mount, then no bayonet at all.

CVCobra, Not wanting to get into a debate or ****ing match, not attacking you, but your comment is out of line.

If you are not interested in this kind of experiment, look at other threads. Simply move on.

There has been a long time debate about the effect of the bayo mounted to the barrel, there are beliefs on both sides of the fence.

I am just trying to determine if my belief that it has adverse affects. This is my NON SCIENTIFIC way of proving of disproving the debate (in my eyes).

Wonder where we would be in our shooting sports if people didn't experiment, Sling Shots?

I am not a highly educated man (didn't finish 4 year college). But do claim to have a PHD, in Common Sense.

I was hoping to complete the 2nd design this weekend, but home things got in the way.

I have all the parts drawn and about 1/3 machined. Back to work next weekend.

View attachment 135587 Well i did some playing today on the mill.

Unlike last time, going to wait doing any clean up the corners after testing tomorrow.

The bayou is mounted to a flat 2x1/2" plate that can adjust up and down.

Hope this works, will report back tomorrow.

Heading to the range in about an hour.

Playing around this afternoon, came up with a new design that would allow the bayo to be adjusted to be anywhere you need it.

There would be one more piece that would move up and down the up fright round bar that would hold the bayo.

Will report back later tonight on the test result.

I have been working on this design for the last two months. I do not have a machine shop at my disposal anymore. So, I am trying to go with readily available items.

Reloader28,

I have not had the chance to test my latest design, unfortunately my mother passed away right after my post on May 27th.

Things are finally settling down, hoping to make it to the range Tuesday night to test it.

I did discover that I made the plate that the bayo is mounted on is too short, can't plug in the cable, lol. I made a new piece this weekend, so I should be good to go.
