I have shot several with my 338 RCM and learned that if you shoot them from the front or the back, The bullet carries bone fragments with it and destroys the Coyote.
If you shoot them from the side, the bullets construction prevents it from doing much expansion on light game.
FMJs are preferred for pelt hunting If a larger caliber is used.
I once tried my 416 Buff on a deer using a 400 grain Barnes x and the exit wound was almost the same size as the entrance. The deer never knew what hit him, and there was no ruined meat.
