Talk me out of 6.8 Western

Each of the short magnum .277/6.8mm shows the preference of their designer. Some have "factory" limitations.

The biggest practical difference is twist rate. WSM is 10, Western is 8.

Sherman doesn't publish their case specs but WSM and Western are published.A couple grains of powder one way or the other.

My point is, if you are building a "custom" then you get to pick the twist rate.

6.8 Western is here to stay.

That said. If it were me, I'd go with with a 270 WSM with an 8 twist barrel.
 
Well, I really appreciate everyone's input. I believe my build direction is going to be the 6.8 Western! Now it's time to go through the back of the safe and see what's going to the LGS to fund the new build HAHA.
