In the Ear? Really???

So you catch a hog sleeping, sneak up on it and take its picture! Wow! How impressive of your stalking abilities! Either that or it's one of your trained hogs that knows whenever you come around, to "assume the position".

I can see that the video must have come from your archives, because you are actually hitting hogs on the run. Kind of reminiscent of the old DJ back when he could see straight, shoot straight and even walk straight! What a change from today!

Short range shooting isn't as impressive as Long Range Shooting, but I sure hit the target more often!

Without me to critique and harangue you and your somewhat lackadaisical skills, you would lapse back into your old inefficient, slovenly ways! You should be grateful that I'm here to mentor you! Now on that third hog, you should have........!Fencing.gif

What did you do, get fired from work by sleeping at your desk all day? Haven't seen this many posts from you since you were trying, and failing to get your TPS report out!

Was over on a adjoining thread and the last post, someone said they were using "a 45-70 loaded with my special hog round, a 350 gr. bullet at 2,000 fps". which for the size of the slug, you might as well get you a field gun! Which, to spite djones, recalls a story.

I had this acquaintance, that got a hold of a, I think, 75mm French field gun. The bore was perfect for shooting beer cans filled with sand, etc. He got bored with shooting the beer cans and decided to see if he could make an explosive round by filling a beer can with Black powder sealing the opening tar or something and put a fuse in it so he'd have a delayed explosion. Then instead of putting something like plate steel or something solid, between the can and the powder for the cannon, he inverted the can and put it opening down, in the barrel.

I guess the resulting explosion was phenomenal and blew the end of the barrel right off the cannon. His only saving grace was he rigged some kind of an igniter rigged with a lanyard and pulled it from about 25 feet away. I guess it saved his bacon and guys watching from about 100' away said it was a miracle he didn't get hurt or killed.

Hard to believe he was the fastest sperm in the bunch! Most of the other sperm must have spotted him a 2" head start because he was so retarded!

This sounds like something djones would do, but i wouldn't put it past him to try and rig a punt gun for groups of hogs. If he decides to try, though, I want to take a look at that suppressor! OR, wouldn't surprise me if he got an Anti-tank gun and fired it with anti-personnel canister rounds OR baited a field with lots of corn or whatever and used Claymore mines spread out to cover the field, or...............?

He'd better be watching the background though since the range on some of those is close to 3 miles.

OK, company is about 15 minutes out, so got to go!

speaking of 4570... i put an IR laser on it and mounted the pvs14 to a skull cap.

i have used the trigger stik ever since their 1st gen came out. went through several because the legs either froze up or wouldn't stay locked. i didn't realize till later that the legs on that model deployed just right for me at their farthest angle. easy to setup even at night.

gen 2 and the jim shocky were lighter but i had to tie paracord around the legs to keep them from angling out too far. you could adjust them on the fly, but i couldn't tell at night if one leg angle was farther than another until i put the gun on it and felt the unevenness.

their gen 3 is my favorite. legs deploy at correct angle and if you want to go farther for sitting, twist the grip bottom and it unlocks for the sitting position.

i tried the bogpod for a while and it's fine, but for uneven rows and mud that makes you sink if you stand too long, i really like to adjust the leg length on the fly.

i also have one of those sturdy graphite tripods with a reaper grip, but i swapped the head for a picatinny mount. it's nice for setting up the rifle hands free so you can call and spot for yotes.

now... go shoot something dammit. it's obvious pukk ratt can't hit anything!

djones,
After watching the video's, came to the conclusion that if you had taken my 2nd shooting class, you would have done much better! Too late now though, since your check for the first class bounced. You did OK for a neophyte, but could have done much, much better. As far as leading them too far, are you talking about shooting them or romancing them? Some of those hogs were slower than a snail with a club foot and you could have run out there and bludgeoned them to death. In fact kept expecting to see your back running downrange on the video and throwing the rifle at them! Have you considered affixing a bayonet?

As far as Pak not being able to hit anything, if I had the toys mounted on my rifle that you have, would have probably cleared the field. However that may change shortly as I'm saving up my change to get some of those toys. Should be able to get a thermal scope in about 12 years at the rate it's going so watch out! I did run a cost estimate on the hogs you have shown killed on this thread, and so far you are down to about $68.46 per hog shot, and I can't write my toys off as pest control!

Got a call today from an editor that wants me to do a series of articles relating to Infections and infectious diseases affecting senior citizens to include STD's. With the use of Viagara apparently STD's in seniors is becoming an epidemic. Guess I would be the first ever Staph reporter for this publication.

Got to go for now, may BBL tonight, not sure, depends on how long this dinner lasts!

Drain the swamp seems fairly inappropriate to me. Flush the toilet seems more apropos.

I only hav two luves in my life, Shootin and Wimmen, but I'm getin older and thinking about giving up shooting

Heck djones, I thought you gave up women a long time ago and decided to stay with the shooting from what you post! Maybe I've got it backwards, but was under the impression that women gave you up first! I'm sure all the animals in the neighborhood regret that decision!

Well, it's your decision, but if you decide to give up shooting, rather than let them go to rust, let me know so I can acquire some of those fancy toys you use! At a substantial discount, of course!

There's no way I'd give up shooting since there are so many options to go in.

Let's see ,,, yes,,, the word would be endless. Ha.

If any thing,,, I'd find a big old tree in the middle of no-where so me and my rifle can faid away together,,, kinda like watching the last rider disappearing into the Sun Sets. LOL

Don, I know that feeling, but I'm just not ready to give up either one! djones, though, may be another matter. He's darn near ancient and hasn't been eating enough spinach to keep the lead in his pencil, not that he was getting any chances to write anything, anyway!

As far as the big old tree, can completely understand that philosophy. (Djones, that means attitude) However, when I was in California and going through a divorce tried that riding off into the sunset gig and almost drowned in the doggone Ocean.

I checked the freezer and the piggy is definitely dead. I checked a couple pix and it's definitely my Mini 14. I know I haven't been here long, but I've dumped more pigs with a 5.56 Barnes than I can count so I gotta disagree a little. I'm gonna say shot placement has something to do with it. The first was pig moving at about 150 as I remember. The second pic was 180 on a standing pig. I don't remember exactly but it was probably less than 100 yds.

Wow, we finally got someone else posting pictures of dead hogs? Welcome, welcome, welcome. If you've read any back into the thread, you'll know that we do kid each other unmercifully, so if you're thin skinned, just take it with a grain of salt! Hell, pick it up and throw it back. This thread is NOT about being serious except for shooting hogs!

I have to agree with scrmblr, though, you can't kill hogs with a 5.56. I know for a fact that you can't even hardly kill a man with one, since I once put 3 rounds center of mass and the yahoo kept coming after my *** Matty Mattel rifle jammed. My RTO took him down with his .45. How was I to know he was wearing a tee shirt under his uniform blouse? Of course I didn't have the time luxury of exact shot placement or would have gone for a head shot! Even the Army is finally wising up and going to a larger caliber!

Got some nice looking dead hogs there and daylight shots too! That last picture shows a nice hog and one ugly guy that looks a whole lot like my brother with what looks like a BB gun. Can't be him though, I know he uses a 7 mm. Can't read the hat though, even after enlarging the picture.

Where is Red Mountain, John?

Actually the reason neither DJ or I use a 5.56 is that we usually, or at least I don't, have the luxury of shooting at them from an extended distance. If I'm not in the blind and on the ground, have about 20 - 30 feet to respond in Texas brush country and sure don't want to wound them at that range. DJ sometimes gets up close and personal with the hogs and some of them he even shoots! I think that's why he likes going out at night!

OK, for the rest of you, my company has left and I should be back more or less often that the last several days. Your rest is over DJ, so get back out there and shoot some Hogs!
