It's exactly what it says it is. Lawton Machine LLC has gone out of business.

It was good stuff. It will function for a long long time.

If you want a 25-06, get it.
Hi 👋 my Google search tells me they went out of business in 2011, I also read the ol boy died.
Curious if this was their own action or based off a REM 700
Thankyou 😃

About 20 years ago they supplied custom actions for GA Precision's custom builds. I have one that is a GAP 7000. I've been shooting that rifle in matches and hunting since early 2007. It started life as a long action 7WSM and is now a 7RM more for hunting. When it was new from GAP, I remember testing pointed against non pointed bullets at 1k. That day I managed to print a 5" and 6" group at 1k, and 1" at 300 was common for it. I haven't been able to duplicate that level of consistency with a rifle since, but it is my only full custom build. Caveat, I don't shoot as much now as I did then, either. However, with todays plethora of custom actions with off the shelf prefits, I wouldn't pay for a Lawton what I would for a Termius, Curtis, Defiance, Impact...., but they are nice actions.

I have one of those 308 GAP's with an Obermeyer on it and the gun is fond of 175's. Spend enough time searching and you'll see that some people claim the cocking piece is soft. I'll not ever wear mine out and it's a killer rifle.

You could have the cocking piece nitrided or hard chromed maybe. Does anybody know if this action uses basically a Rem 700 firing pin, etc. A lot of custom actions do, so getting parts other than the bolt and receiver usually not too hard to source. Nice looking rifle.

I suggest you contact GA Precision.

and

I think the price is high but YMMV.

Thank you very much!!

I have a Lawton action that was used on a custom 6.5-06 build by Kirby Allen. I bought mine somewhere back in 2006 and paid around $800-$900 for it back then (nearly 20 years ago). It has a Rem 700 footprint. They were quality actions in the day. Old man Lawton got sick shortly after I purchased my action and tried to turn the business over to his son, but it failed within a few months. I can't opine as to the rifle's value, but the action is what you would expect from a custom.
