Why shoot a sissy rifle?

Remember M80s? We liked those better than the Cherry Bombs.

I'm probably remembering wrong…..but, were M-80's and "Silver Tees" the same! I only remember that, what we called "Silver Tees" …..sucked when shot from a "slingshot" an incorrect terminology.

It's was many years before the "wrist rocket"……but, I'm not sure what to call it, it's is a very "politically incorrect" term today! 😉

I remember that Dennis the Menace carried one in his back pocket all the time! memtb

Haha. Yep.

I always thought rubber hose water taste was normal!

Cherry bombs out of slingshots were our antiaircraft fire at whatever. I know nobody did that.

Ride no speed bikes for miles without drink holders carrying fishing rod on handlebars with plastic tackle box tied to rear fender top bracket. Nobody had bungy back then.

Team up with friends to shovel driveways and take care of old neighbors.

Team up with friends to mow lawns with 20" push mowers. Runner hose was our sports drink. Nobody cut their foot off.
Very true.
Bottle rocket wars were awsome, dozens in a pipe so you can aim them, kinda like a fire ball and a mini gun in one 😂
Drinking water from creeks and tree stumps
Fun times 😁

Did anyone else play with pure sodium in water?? Or carbide?? 😂

We did the bottle rocket wars with 2 kids per team kind of like a WW II bazooka team using 1" pvc pipe and we used trash can lids as shields. No cell phones or cameras....mom had no idea

I couldn't get the "long range" accuracy with them that I could with Cherry Bombs, when fired from - shall I say a "slingshot". Plus…..the Cherry Bombs had a much better BC! 😜

See how I worked this into our Long Range Hunting forum! 🤣 memtb

Finally got my new sissy rifle done. 22-250

Instead of the bottle rockets we changed it up and used Roman candles once. It was scary sh** but fun at the same time.

That's right, I birddog 68 shoot a sissy rifle. Not just any sissy rifle but a 6.5 creedmoor, the queen of sissies.
Some are afraid to mention that they shoot a skinny jeans man bun latte drinking rifle for fear that they will be ridiculed by their former friends. Not I.
I was looking for a rifle that would basically be a range rifle and was a little easier on my torn rotator cuff but wanted a bit more power than my 223 Remington. I wanted readily available brass and bullets and something that I wouldn't have to buy any powder that wasn't on my shelf already. The 6.5 CM checked all the boxes.
I ended up buying a Browning Xbolt western hunter last spring with a 24" barrel and yea it's even got a brake on it!
It's actually been boring working up loads for since it's shot everything good that I have tried so far.
I'm shooting 140 ELDM and 140 ballistic tip and have used IMR 4350, Ramshot hunter,W760 and staball 6.5 and it doesn't care what I fill the case with. It just shoots!
I'd like to hear what brought others to buy such a sissy rifle ?
Don't worry your replies will be confidential. 🤣
Me too. I've shot many 6.5s in the past. Started with a .260 then 6.5-284. Built a 26 Nosler and also years ago owned a .264 Win magnum. Last year I bought a Howa Mini in 6.5 Grendel. It's gotta be the Queen of Sissy rifles if we're giving names to cartridges in the 6.5 class. Of all the 6.5s I've owned, shot and killed with, this Grendel is easily the best of them all (for my needs in the whitetail woods). Killed 4 deer with it this past fall/winter deer season. I wanted a treestand rifle that was short and light. The easy button was this Howa mini. 20" barrel and I swapped the stock for a Stocky's 17 oz carbon stock. Gun weighs 6lbs with scope and magazine(loaded). Recoil is similar to a 223 with 80 grain bullets. I shoot 123 ELDM bullets for my deer rounds. Half inch groups and deer never make it 30 yards after impact. What's not to like in a sissy rifle like that ? FWIW...I have a brake on mine also. Recoil is like a 22 RF. Now that's maximizing the definition of a Sissy rifles. Great rifle for the grandsons to cut their teeth on.

Maybe I'll try some 140 Amax for deer. I've heard that they are excellent for light skinned game.

They have been my favorite bullet on deer from that size cartridge. Mine is a 6.5-284. My only recommendation is make sure the impact velocity is between 2000 and 2400 fps. They are like grenades out to 200 yards. My MV is mild for my rifle at 2950 and I use the 140s for 400 yards and beyond and the bullets do a great job.

A "beast" such as that should have a suppressor ……and a muzzle brake! 😜 Even then……likely too much HP for the CM crowd! 😂

Seriously though……It looks pretty sweet! 👍 memtb
Well recoil needed taming for sure. Plus, I didn't want to lose my hearing for my upcoming DEI training….oh wait, those got cancelled.

@ Birddog,..
Read VLD Pilot's Post,.. "Carefully" M's and Amaxes ARE Explosive and "Can" cause,.. issues !
For Closer Range shots OR,.. IF, hitting, ANY Bone, you want to, Use, the Horn 143 gr. ELD-X's or, 140 gr. Elite Hunter, Berger's,..
UNLESS you like, Cutting Out a Lot of, Bloodshot Meat and making, a "Mess",.. in General.
The ELD-M's have a .023 thick Jacket and, the X's Have a .037 thick Jacket ( Big Difference in,.. "Toughness" and,.. penetration ! ).
The Berger 140's ARE Tough too and usually, Shoot THROUGH chit at, Good Velocities Leaving, the innards ,.. Jello ( animal,. DRT ! )

My experience is the Amax and ELDM bullets are a bad option only at the higher speeds. As I said in my post, I killed 4 deer with the ELDM and the impact velocity was around 2300 at the 100-140 yards I killed them all at. They were shot from a 6.5 Grendel. 123 ELDM. Bullet stayed together and found in the hide on the opposite side hide. 3 of the 4 bullets recovered pictured. They are more accurate than hunting bullets and if used at the right impact velocities, they work like text book hunting bullets do in deer.
