Went out this morning to do some load development for the 6.5X47. Started at 37 grains of Varget going up .5 grains until I reached 38.5 grains using HH110. Attached are the results at 38 and 38.5 grain load at 100 yards. Next time out I will bump up the load and extend the range to 300 yards.

Developing this load for an upcoming Antelope hunt this fall in New Mexico. Steve said the HH 110 should be the bullet to use.

The X47s are sweet to shoot, easy to load and wonderful to group. My 6x47 is scary out to 500

Did you reach pressure at 38.5 gr? I've never tried Varget in my x47. Always just run H4350. 41.5 gr with the 124HH no pressure signs. Other gun 42.2 with a 130 gr Berger.

No pressure. Plan on going up to see where the pressure starts.

I started using hammers about 2 years ago. I definitely like them. In that two years went on one Elk hunt but never fired a shot and only hunted 2 times locally. I fired 2 shots at game in 2018 at 2 different deer and killed both. I'm different than many here as I kinda like light for caliber bullets and I don't try shots at super long range. For the most part where I'm from you're lucky to see anything at more than 100 yards.
So the Hammers fit my needs just fine. Of the two deer I shot, neither took a step after being hit. The one deer I shot, I wouldn't have normally taken but there was nothing near it for me to judge it's size and I had to make a snap decision or it would have been gone. I was shooting a 143 gn hammer hunter out of a 28N at about 3500 FPS. The distance was roughly 100 yards. I don't know exactly why it did the damage it did, I don't think the bullet blew up even with the high velocity but the smaller doe was hit in the lower neck/upper shoulder and as can be seen in the picture it did extensive damage.
With the larger doe the damage wasn't as evident externally, but like I said it didn't go anywhere either.

Aside from liking the hammers I also liked the folks that use them as it's almost like a small community where everyone seems a bit kinder and more thoughtful of one another.

Its all relative. Guys kills stuff with partitions at 800 yards, doesn't mean its considered a long range bullet. Generally, long range hunting bullets are sleek VLD types - Berger, SMK, ELDM with high bcs - Am I crazy? I am not saying they won't work, but if we are going to start calling the hammer bullets a long range bullet, we are going to have to start including partitions and regular old accubonds and Aframes etc.

Before this thread, i had honestly never heard anybody tout them as a long range bullet - so this is news to me. Most of what you read about are guys using them out to 500-600 yards. Even guys who shoot hammers have also said on this website that if they shoot over 600 yards they will use bergers or something similar.

Not sure about others but I could care less if they sponsor the site or not. I've been a professional athlete in the past and realized if a company doesn't do anything for me I have no reason to help spread the word.
If it's a great product I'll use it and give honest opinion on it.
