If you're going to keep burning up the highway we'll have to get you a trailer, or maybe a receiver hitch adapter for your reloading stuff.

Steve was kind enough to send me some of his good looking bullets to test in my new 338 Sherman. I have been living out of a box waiting for our home to open so testing is a bit more challenging. I loaded up some 260's ahead of 63 grains of RL17 at a coal of 3.500". After chronographing a few, I shot 4 shots at 100 yards into 5/8" at a speed of around 2690'. This was not max and they would probably reach at least 2750'. I considered this to be a pretty good group with zero load development. This bullet should be a HAMMER on big critter! (no pun intended) Today I got around to loading up some 236's. I decided on 65 grains of H100V, which turned out to be a pretty mild load. It was right at 2800' and would probably max at around 2950'. I loaded them to 3.490" coal and shot 5 sots at 100 yards. This load shot right at 1" but I had some pretty bad mirage going on lying prone in the gravel. I feel that this bullet would likely group much better with better conditions and some load development. Either bullet would likely be potent medicine on big bears, elk, and the like. I would like to have done some expansion testing but my living conditions at this time prohibit it. Thanks Steve for the bullet donation!...........Rich

Thanks for posting your results Rich. You might find those 236g Hammer Hunters to settle down a bit as you push closer to top end. We have always found our bullets to like velocity. Not sure where your load density is but our best loads are always as close to 100% case fill as we can get with full throttle loads.

I never shoot well with mirage. I don't know how guys do. Never have figured out where to hold on the bouncing target.

I know you like the more frangible bullets for your style of hunting. We are working on a whole line of bullets that will be designed for 40-60% weight retention. I'll stay in touch with you on them.

Not sure where your load density is but our best loads are always as close to 100% case fill as we can get with full throttle loads.

Hi Steve. I figured the 236's might like more pressure as well. I have found cup and core bullets with thick jackets normally do. The load density is pretty high because I am running a small for bore case with heavy (long bullets).........Rich
