I have no kids at home (Great grandad). My kids and grandkids are adults themselves, and the rare occasions any children come to our home, we lock the inside-the-house firearms away. I have a shop that is over-filled with equipment, supplies, etc, etc, and sometimes, one forgets were some things are. The same goes for items when moving, transporting, etc, etc.So…..ever hear the stories of someone misplacing a gun and later a child finds it and blows his head off with it?
Or ever hear about someone's house getting robbed and their guns get stolen?
I am anal about my weapons.
I had/still have kids at home, but fortunately they are now old enough to be responsible because I taught them safety.
But there are kids who was never taught safety or what a firearm can do.
You do whatever makes you comfortable and hopefully nobody ever gets hurt.
As for me I put my $8,000 rifle away in a locked 2000lb bolted down safe when I'm done with it.
IF you read my earlier posts, you know I have several safes filled with firearms, but at various times, some of those may be in the shop for various reasons, taken out for shooting, scope replacements, bedding, triggers, etc, and a few are located in the house for personal protection.
I am glad you have an $8,000 rifle, but that is meaningless to the point.
Heck, even as a younger man, I once misplaced an Army UH-1. It did not take long to find it.
