Defiance elk guns let’s see what you got. Need ideas

I'd like to use that 200 grain terminal ascent! I had a rifle that couldn't shoot that at all and I have 10 boxes of it now. It's a bullet with solid construction and a pretty good bc
I am unsure what you mean by your rifle couldn't shoot because the barrel twist was too slow (i.e., 1:11") or would not group. The 200g Terminal Ascent bullets require a minimum 1:10" twist to stabilize—so, 1:9" is fine will your SG.

I was too late in the game to acquire the TA bullets. If 1:9" does not work, I can help you get rid of them.

Thanks for your response brother. So I had a Christensen arms 300 wm and I know that's where I went wrong lol. It was a 1:10 and super picky with ammo. She only liked the 180 gr stuff. So with that being said I wanted to build one with a 9 twist thinking it would help stabilize the heavier stuff. Proof sells a 10 twist that I'm tempted to try

Yep, sometimes you must pay attention to what the rifle likes. I have three .300 WMs, and they are all loaded differently, but they all shoot better with heavier weights than 180. In the last 5 years, I have been transitioning to a faster twist than the minimum required twist recommendations, i.e., 1:7" on my .257 WBY (135 Berger is 1:8") and .264 WM (156 Berger is 1:8")), and 1:8" on my .338 Thor (300 Berger is 1:10", 350 Chinchaga is 1:9.3"). Good luck!
